Zion has a 113 defensive rating. Not that it means much since it's a team and pace dependent stat. But he hasn't been good defensively most of his impact has some from his explosive athleticism, he's not in the best shape out there and doesn't fully understand NBA defense.
Yeah but Luka physical limitations are too much to overcome on the defensive side. He’s just too slow

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
Nikkas basing it off college where he was a monstrous defender and a few highlight blocks on SportsCenter

Jokic and Carmelo schooled him with jabs and pump fakes. He ain’t have the foot speed to stay in front of Bron. He sags off shooters and don’t understand help defense.

He’s out of shape and needs to work on his I.Q./discipline and learn NBA defenses. Doesn’t have the greatest wingspan either.
With him being damn near 30 pounds heavier than at Duke, once he drops that weight and regains his lateral movement (missing on offense too) he will be fine. Most of his defensive lapses has been from lack of lateral speed, he can't move left to right quick enough right now on either end.

We still haven't seen him attack off the dribble from the perimeter, AT ALL. That was a huge part of his game at Duke. I know NBA nikkas are much faster than college nikkas, but you can look and see that Zion quickness isn't quite there yet.

Steve Nash had great playoff series his production usually increased in the playoffs too.

A lot of people feel the Suns could have made the Finals that year they had the suspensions.

Stats go up during the playoffs cause guys play more minutes. What matters is wins and losses. Can a guy will his team to wins or not? Nash never did that.

Also only losers bring up excuses for why they don't have rings. There is no guarantee even if they didn't get suspended that year they would have won. That's pure speculation.

This is like a debate between Lebron and Melo

One is a great player who will have a great career, the other is transcendent. Zion is Lebron in this situation

Nope, not everyone’s shyt goes up and Nash didn’t see an efficiency dip either.

It’s not excuses it’s context you spoke out your azz. Luka is very skilled he’ll take his L’s and hard knocks like everyone but it’s a good chance he gets at least one ring in his career.

Ur points trash.

SMF and LAX to VA and NC
Lmao is this a serious question?

Luka will be an All-Timer. Zion will be a guy we talk about for a few years, riding his prep and college hype. He will never fulfill the expectations of a #1 pick, but he'll have a Blake Griffin-type career if he stays healthy, make a few All-NBAs and All-Stars, be a good pro...

If he ever wins a ring he won't be the #1 and if his health becomes a factor, finito early...

Luka is getting another parade to Dallas and is about to run the 20s with a handful of other guys (Tatum, Giannis, a couple guys as yet unknown), Zion will be 2and tier "super"star below those guys at his best...

Not even a real debate as far as I'm concerned...

Not only that Zion guards his position. Zion is a PF he guards PF. Luka is a PG and sometimes a SF but doesn't guard a PG or SF if they are offensive threats. He always guards the 3rd or 4th option on a team.

Thats why I can never take his defensive ratings or any white players defensive ratings seriously (ex Dirk, Nash and etc) because they almost never guard their positions. On top of that the only and I mean only white player who I have ever seen get buckets on one end and guard the number 1 option at times on the other end was Kevin Mchale. I seen that dude drop 20 or 30 and guard kats like barkley, malone and Dominique on the other end.

But back to the subject IMO Luka is actually a far worse defensive player than zion. Like when the pels were playing the lakers they weren't hiding zion on avery bradley or rajon rondo. Zion was actually guarding AD like literally guarding him.

But the mavs constantly hide Luka on defense (as they did dirk for 20 years).
