This part is bullshyt. Atlantic legit held up Lupe’s career because he wouldn’t renegotiate his deal and sign a 360 and he wouldn’t use pre-packaged recordings. There’s proof of all that. Atlantic fukked Lupe over something SERIOUS after The Cool
I’ve been seeing more behind the scenes of how rappers are piecing their bars together and it’s really not that impressive to me.
I think it’s more impressive how jay does his shyt in one take or just seamlessly without having to punch in and out.
Lupe is literally just rapping nonsense on these loosies
Lasers was his most successful to pop fans. His rap reputation was ruined because of that album.Lupe was signed to a major and in doing that, it comes with a compromise that most if not all artists have had to make. Lupe was supposed to drop a triple disc set, which possibly would've gotten him out of his contract, but Atlantic wasn't having that considering "Shining Down" didn't do that well. We ended up getting Lasers, which ended up being his most commercially successful album. Some of those pre-packaged songs ended up being his most commercially successful. A label is looking at an artist in Lupe's position as them knowing more than he did. What's his argument against them when they can just say we handed you your most successful album?
With Jayz money behind him.Cole has all of that while peaking higher in popularity/mainstream success and greater longevity.
I'm saying he should be on GOOD music, have Kanye produce and just spit.At minimum should have J Cole’s level of success.
Have Jay, Ye, & Pharrell backing you…yet choose to be an obtuse weirdo that ends arguing with Royce da 5’9 about setting up a rap battle in 2021 brehs.

I'm a huge fan, but I don't understand this beef with Royce. Phenomenal artist regardless.

You didn't fukk with Lupe diss to Royce?
Food and Liquor 2 and the proceeding albums after that tanked commercially because of Lasers giving him a bad rap.Key word "commercially successful", which is what is going to matter most to a label.
His rap reputation wasn't ruined. Fans knew what it was going into that album especially after hearing the singles. His fans still showed up for Food & Liquor II.
Mid. Nothing NOBODY will remember in a few months. 6 minutes of forgettable shyt. Definitely no Hit Em Up. I tried not to offer my opinion cause the Lupe megastans on here gonna try to call me hater, but facts is facts.
