Lasers was weak on all fronts.
Whether it was beats or lyrics.

No.

Lasers was not lyrically weak. It was probably the only thing about that huge disappointment of an album that wasn't weak. The lyrics and the content of the lyrics. The lyrics were toned down and more straight forward by HIS standards, but that album would be most rapper's lyrical peak. I also feel "Letting Go" and "All Black Everything" are two of the best songs he's ever done.

the mixtape he dropped in response to the old MTV top 10 list was a fukking classic

lupe-alt.jpg

he's getting back into his mixtape mode if you ask me, im fully expecting a sequel to this to shyt on the game :ohlawd:

Cosign, that's the one thing I can say about L-U-P-Emporer, his mixtapes are usually :whoo:

I had Enemy of that State on repeat for a hot minute:

I mean come on, I mean look at what I'm dropping here
Do this for the block and the blogosphere
No, you ain't ready for the heavy, so I'll keep it light as jogging gear
I don't want the throne, I want the helicopter rocking chair
Jay gave me a co-sign like I was RocaWear, but be clear I'm not the heir
I'm the water, fire and the earth
That means I'm doing dirt, spitting flames and quenching thirst
And plus the real God has been on my side since birth

I hope that he forgives me, I hope I do his work in every single verse
Now I might do a dance, I might even jerk, tell them nikkas don't hate
Only God is great, Enemy Of The State

Look I'm not about to play this game with a known lupe stan.
The same dude who fought tooth and nail to get everyone
to see the brilliance in Lasers.
I listened to that shyt front to back.

IT WAS WEAK LYRICALLY
There are many, many songs on there
that would be the weakest songs in any rappers discography.

Outside of my head -
Just a snippet of this shyt

Lupe -
Everything hooks
Everything works, you're a real good cause
I'm a real good verse, freestyle unrehearsed
So clean no curse
And when the song's gone man everything hurts
So I put it in reverse
Go back to the scene where I seen you first
Yeah, I need you to sing that single again
Play that video I seen you up in
A hundred million scenes in my mind all day
Call in and request on the line always
Yeah, the president of your fan club
Leave them players all behind like a bad love

:wow:
So brilliant !
So deep !
Aesop Rock should be shook :wow:
Ka and El-P should never pick up another mic !

For the record this comment left me dying laughing.
Esharido said:
The example of a perfect song of music, flow, rhyme, meaning and metaphors. No pop shyt just pure soul

Completely ignoring that this shyt is a blatant play at top 40.

Lupe -
I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshyt
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip
9/11 building 7 did they really pull it
Uhh, And a bunch of other cover ups
Your childs future was the first to go with budget cuts
If you think that hurts then, wait here comes the uppercut
The school was garbage in the first place, that's on the up and up
Keep you at the bottom but tease you with the uppercrust
You get it then they move it so you never keeping up enough
If you turn on TV all you see’s a bunch of “what the fukks”
Dude is dating so and so blabbering bout such and such
And that ain't Jersey Shore, homie that's the news
And these the same people that supposed to be telling us the truth
Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist
Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say shyt
That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either
I’ma part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful
And I believe in the people.

It's an insult to compare this mediocre bullshyt to the lyrical highs
he reached on the The Cool and Food&Liquor
.

I'm not a turtle, I'm a turbo :wow:
Haters pray to god that I turn slow
Like I'm sipping on purple
But I ain't on your glow/globe
I'm in a whole 'nother circle
Trying to keep it clean like church clothes

Said that respect was something had to work for
But that ain't gonna work though

Get your respect, but lose all my worth, no
You can dead that, get a hearse, go
Don't need 48 you'll find a killer in the first floor
It was me boy, to commercials

Feeling out of place like PETA at a fur store
So I left with a couple dozen fur coats
Said I could never break away from your hold
Watch me, turn though

Said that I blew it like Turquoise
Just mad hear it all in your word choice
Know it hurts but I really don't care though
Let me rub it in, get it all up in that ho

:wow:
I can't believe I doubted Lu
:wow:

Get outta here with that shyt.

"The show goes on" was one of the worst offenders on
that album.

Have you ever had the feeling that you was being had
Don’t that shyt that make you mad
:dead:
They treat you like a slave, with chains all on your soul,
and put whips up on your back,
they be lying through they teeth
hope you slip up off your path
I don’t switch up I just laugh
put my kicks up on they desk
unaffected by they threats than get busy on they ass
see that’s how that Chi-Town made me
That’s how my daddy raised me
that glittering may not be gold, don’t let no body play me
if you are my homeboy, you never have to pay me
Go on and put your hands up, when times are hard you stand up
L-U-P the man, cause a brand that the fans trust
so even if they ban us they’ll never slow my plans up!

Again he was not Lupe as I knew him on that album
and even he has several tracks on The Cool and F&L
that are pretty basic, what separates them is that conceptually
he was still saying things. He wasn't trying to be Immortal
Technique light with Alex Da Kid on the boards.
Anyways I still copped that shyt to support.

IT WAS WEAK LYRICALLY

When did I ever say the album was brilliant? I said it was better than people were giving it credit for, but it's still the worst project of his career and a massive disappointment. I initially gave it a 4 out of 5, but quickly came to the conclusion I overrated the fukk out of it. A very low 3/5 at best, and that's on a good day.

Putting words in caps doesn't change anything though breh :pachaha: The album was not lyrically weak. Quoting the absolute worst songs on the album (Out of My Head and I Don't Wanna Care) while trying to say the verses you posted from TSGO and WINS are bad(they aren't) doesn't validate your words. It actually makes you seem petty and unable to accept when you are wrong. To be frank, I expected more from you.

On the very same songs you try to shyt on he said,

So lyrically weak!

:whew: why did his mother even allow him to put that verse out! HORRIBLE RIGHT? LYRICALLY BOTTOM TIER.

And that first verse you posted from Out of My Head was dope. The description of his favorite girl being akin to his favorite song on the radio was executed perfectly It's the second verse that was mediocre. If you're going to shyt on a song, at least do it right.

All Black Everything, Letting Go, Coming Up, Till I Get There, Break The Chain, State Run Radio, and Beautiful Lasers are all strong lyrical efforts. I dislike a good portion of those songs, but it doesn't change the fact that he's spitting on them.

The funniest thing about this is when I initially corrected your erroneous statement about the album being lyrically weak, I had several verses from the songs above copied and pasted to point how crazy it is to say that, but I figured it wouldn't be necessary....only for this nikka to quote lines off I Don't Wanna Care and have the nerve to talk about playing games. If he was spitting like that on the rest of the 14 songs the album offered, you'd be right, but it was an anomaly not a majority. You want it to be one way, but it's the other way.

In all seriousness though, I know you're a rapper. If you can post some verses of yours that is head and shoulders above any of the verses on Letting Go, State Run Radio, Break The Chain, Till I Get There, or Beautiful Lasers, I will give you serious props. Inbox it if you don't feel comfortable going public with it. Otherwise, I'm already over this ludicrous discussion.

lemme give you an idea of the type of nikka we dealin with with this dummy @Insensitive

when F&L II came out and we were breakin it down, this nikka was all up in the thread actin like he understood what was goin on, but I was realizing that everything he was sayin was just stupid. Then we got to "bytch Bad" and this nikka highlighted the lyrics where Lu was mimickin the dumb broad lyrics, and this chump points them out as weak lyrics... then it dawned on me, this kid didnt realize that Lu was mimicking a lyrics that were intentionally bad. Before that, I really thought nikkaz understood what was going on. It was this nikka that really made me realize that its really dummies out here lost while listening to even straight forward Lu songs. So I wouldnt expect someone who couldnt grasp that simple shyt to understand that Lasers LYRICALLY shyt on that "Control" verse... He's just not able to get it.

Words I Never Said, even with the :scusthov:Skylar Grey Recovery-esque hook and production, had me looking forward to Lasers.

its not that difficult b... you may have to think a lil bit... thats what makes it good. Why do you want other nikkaz to spoon feed you?

i knew anyone who replied back would have a response like this one or one where they decipher the obvious parts of the song........

but since u jumped out there and claim u understand exactly what the verse is saying just break it down real quick.

Ill paypal u 100 bucks right now if u are able to do it
