Of course the label will prioritize the people they expect the most money from, that's simpler than 1*0.
It's a major fukking label owned by people who invest to get a juicy return, not to hear good music on the radio :what:.

The market dynamics has changed since Lupe came in the game, the labels have less control of the market, they have less money to invest on artists due to sharply increased uncertainty and on. Labels are as greedy as artists, they do what's best for them.

As far as Lupe goes, it's really hard to trust anything he says.
Last time he was saying that the label was too involved (they wanted to choose singles, help find producers to get his shyt to the charts etc). Now they don't care. Even if it wasn't about maximizing profit another very simple reason could be cause Lupe dissed them publicly on several occasions. Now why would anyone ever fukk with anyone who tries to embarrass you publicly over and over again? Profit.

Everyone has a 360, the thing with a 360 is its about the splits. if nikkas taking 2 percent of your merch why would u care, now if they taking 40-60 percent thats different. There is no set percentage. Key is to get those percentages down and keep the majority of your money. Justin Beiber has a 360, its pretty much standard now.

And this is based on key word called LEVERAGE

Justin Timberlake...Bieber...Jay-z...and Madonna have all engaged in 360 deals....

But the difference is as one industry head shared with me is that these artists have the LEVERAGE where 360 deals actually WORK FOR THEM...

because they are credible global BRANDS that allow the artists to have all thier various ventures and deals consolidated under one umbrella...

with them (the artist) having not only the most equity along with a sizeable advance...but the fact that usually the option of retaining all licenscing , masters and publishing once the deal comes to an end is an option that is usually offered to artists of thier caliber..these are the type of 360 deals that LIVE NATION only offers to a select few!

unfortunatly the ATLANTIC/WARNER 360 deals like the one Lupe is engaged are more exploitive because the artist is not seen as a global revenue phenomenon and also because the artists niche market is not an across the board cross marketing type of demographic....

along with the fact that the company simply lacks the capital to engage in such lucrative ventures and most importantly..

The company (Atlantic/Warner) doesn't have the proper infastructure set up to handle TOURING and MERCHANDISING in a credible marketing manner...

so they basically are just exploiting the artist with no intentions of promoting his or her work to it's fullest potential...

well "Nuthin on You", "Airplane's" and one other joint i forgot were all originally jams that he was forced to rap on. So I dont think he's lying. Really he cant tell the whole story anyway because im sure A. its too fukking long and B. most people don't care/ wont understand if they never had a deal.

Japan, but from the 989
He just needs to hit the lab for two weeks straight. Get some garbage beats, turn off twitter, and speak his mind on the mike. Two weeks. Enough bytchin about your deal or how your label is fukking you...nikka. You signed that contract. Handle it like a man. Every time this nikka starts crying I feel like the Godfather shaking the shyt outta Johnny Fontane when he started crying!

An interesting thing is that Nuthing on you and Airplanes would've been two of the best songs on Lasers even with that bytch on the hook.
Words I never said and The Show Goes on were also two common favorites from the album, two very successful songs that allegedly were forced by Atlantic.

I mean I can't hate on the label if they are giving him good hit songs that are among the better songs on the album, that's only odd.
That Atlantic records are making better records than a master lyricist.

well it dont work like that, there are so many ghost hands that write music for emcees and submit them into labels. some of everybody has had a ghost hand write for them. prolly the same writing team. Jim Jonsin was caking bake them when that was the sound.

he's useless w/o that 360 to the labels

In its first week of release Indicud debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, selling 139,242 copies in the United States.

If that aint selling what is... thats a dope consistent career for a nikka who been out since 09'.

As far as Lupe last time I check Lasers was Gold... how aint that selling!?!?!

This aint the 90's gold the new platinum g.

Cudi is a made man at Republic, I know this for fact.

Lupe career got fukked up when Chilli went to prison, he lost his buffer at the label. Artist should NEVER talk for themselves.

It's easy for a manager to play bad guy, but when the artist communicates his own frustration he loses the loyalty of the label because animosity grows.

Lupe's big problem is the fact that he has to speak for himself, so even when he isn't wrong, he's still looked at like the bad guy, rebel, a$$hole.

That's when u fall out of favor and they make your life hard. It's that simple. Hov needed a Dame, Wayne needs a Baby, until you reach that level where your word is law.

doesn't really seem like he's bytching about the deal. it seemed more like he was just being honest and giving a little warning to other artists. :manny:
