I don't think that song would have changed his trajectory at all. Look at BoB. All that would have done is more people know lupe as the guy on that Bruno Mars song.

His wordplay is too complex for some people to catch...instead of just admitting that fact they'd rather say "dis nikka corny" and not rock with him because their brain is too lazy to figure out what he's talking about. Imagine your typical Young Thug/Future/Whoever is hot right now fan listening to "Animal Pharm", it probably literally sounds like random words being rhymed.

I love Lupe but that song was pretty much gibberish to me the first time I listened to it. It's one of his most cryptic songs
