You kats are too harsh. The phone is literally left on/in the teachers desk.

Give the kid 2 strikes. If they accrue a 3rd strike, then they turn their phone over as soon as home period starts (if there'sno home period, then it goes straight to the principal's office). If they refuse, they get slapped with an automatic 1-week suspension and a report. The 4th-strike equals a loss of grade due to failure to respect authority and lack of discipline.

fukk off. My children have rights wherever they are.

Y’all love playing lawyer. If kids are allowed their phones on school property he has no “right” to take it.

False. In a school setting teachers become essentially your legal guardian. You are not protected by the 4th amendment.

Even if the district policy is that a teacher can confiscate a phone that does not mean it will stand up in court. Courts are not run by some school or district rule.

I’m sure you and future ratchet will be able to challenge 500 years of common law. Like I told the other dummy, you don’t want to live in a rules based society, form your own commune. Nobody wants to put up with you.

Also :mjpls: at the bolded.
I come from a family of educators and that’s generally why a lot of teachers accept jobs in low income areas.

Your honor, I am essentially his/her legal guardian. I didn’t purchase the phone or pay for its service but I essentially did. I am paid by the school to teach but essentially parent for free.

👍

Professionals have been teaching poor children for centuries but a promise to pay your student loans granted in the 1980s is why low income kids have teachers. Generally. Even though very few teachers have their loans paid by states.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Cool so stop expecting kids to not have phones.
Nah I would rather teach my kids respect. Noone said don't bring the phone to school. U just can't be using it in class or it gets confiscated. It's been like this is schools for years. This thread exposed that alot of "adults" are just grown entitled children. I've been using cell phones since about 01. Cell phones aren't some "new" thing. What's new is how retarded people's attachment to them have become to the point of not being able to do work.

I remember when muthafukkas couldn't even chew gum in class. Now people really saying a teacher has no right to confiscate electronics that are distracting the students from working?? See the problem is the parents. As u can see. shyt I remember at work when cell phones used to have to be put in lockers and weren't permitted on the floor.
Be a slave and want the same for future generations, brehs.

Where is the evidence these kids are “using it” when the teachers snatch it from them? Using it to text, record, research? What’s the line?

My kids have had teachers tell them to take their phones out and google something or text their parent or whatever. The phones become part of the class.

Schools want to have it both ways. They want the kids on Remind and other messaging apps, on schoology, etc. They want the kids to use them but when they can’t control it’s OMG THESE PHONES.

How are the phones a hindrance to work when kids use them to DO WORK?

I can only guess that a lot of you either have no kids, small kids, or old kids. These schools love phones until they don’t.

Honestly the teacher should have just told her to go to the principal office when she refused to put the phone away. That 35k a year ain’t worth going viral for the wrong reasons.
