No, not really young. I work in a H.S. and pointing out the downside of not having a phone. I think no phones is oversimplying it. What you described happened back in the day. No doubt.Are you really young? Because in my day, if something like that happened the parent just calls the office and a student aide brings a note to the student's classroom.
It's a hell of a lot less disruptive than kids having their phones with them 24/7. They've proven that people with phones are more distracted than people without phones even when they're not looking at them. Just the fact that you have the phone and are thinking about it is legit a distraction, on top of all the times they use it to check out of the actual class content.
But at the H.S. I work at and talking to other people who work at H.S.s it doesn't always work that way. Like alot jobs who are low paying, they ain't doing all that. Especially at large H.S. where it's people constantly calling the office. They'll let that phone ring. Especially with caller ID with rude parents.
