Guess they're going to make macklemore the nirvana of hip-hop.

Hip-hop is uncivil. Y'all can't defend everything all the time when it comes to our culture. Positive rap usually doesn't live, that's why I tolerate Macklemore now. You will never hear me playing him on anything I own, but if the ceiling song is playing I'll put my hands up. Let him cook for a little bit, then watch him switch to alternative next album.
This white dude is not hip hop, just because he raps his versus, that doesnt make him hop. Im pretty sure if it wasnt for this ryan lewis guy, he wouldnt even have hits... This is the problem, they are trying to redefine hip hop to be like his music, they want thim to be the model for hip hop. He is not because no one that listens to what most considers hip hop listen to this guy...
this dude away from the word hip hop..... and before someone comes in saying Im only saying that cuz he is white, em is hip hop, shyt mac miller is hip hop, this dude is notthe problem with it is its "hip hop" for the kids who hate listening to hip hop. its music that has no genre because hip hop is not about equal rights or thinking you were gay in the 3rd grade. people who hate hip hop listen to macklemore because they think just because he isn't the black keys means he rapsThis white dude is not hip hop, just because he raps his versus, that doesnt make him hop. Right I hate when they try to associate him in this category. You are right about that He is more pop than anything. I am not even saying he isnt hip hop because of same love, i said this when thrift shop was out, then the other song, He is a terrible rapper, delivery is whack, flow is whack, he aint spitting any crazy bars, his style is whack, and no he isnt a lyricist and he dont even do his own hooks.the problem with it is its "hip hop" for the kids who hate listening to hip hop. its music that has no genre because hip hop is not about equal rights or thinking you were gay in the 3rd grade. people who hate hip hop listen to macklemore because they think just because he isn't the black keys means he raps
what real hip hop fan likes this dude, and why? While one being honest does have to take into account the destructive side of hip hop. For years mainstream shows have ignored more positive acts in hip hop. Some because they weren't selling platinum, others scared of pro-black messaging and themes of self-empowerment, but to act like there haven't been multitudes of positive black acts in hip hop is beyond simplistic. This isn't about changing the image, this is again about rewarding the white voice (a la eminem - dude was far from positive yet he was white and sold well). I love the article's use of the word "gentrification" because that's exactly what whites want to do with the genre, make it safe for them and to their liking.First off, i don't think hiphop is being wrongly assessed, No hiphop fan being honest with them self can say this is not a prevalently misogynistic, homophobic, materialistic genre of music.
Second, Macklemore is a first, i been listening to rap my whole life and i don't recall any anti-homophobic billboard hits, do you? Bu-bu-but there were anti-misogynist, anti-materialist, pro gay rappers before macklmore. They weren't popular and weren't making hits, the ones that did like Kanye weren't a combination of all three in the way Macklemore is.
Third, It's very disingenuous to bring up Kanye anyway because i recall him being highly praised as a breathe of fresh air & 'conscious' when he first came out like Macklemore is being praised now, despite saying misogynistic & homophobic shyt in that time, just goes to show Macklemore is an evolution.
And Last, the writer bemoans dallas news website for not covering ''Dee-1'', lol, hiphop websites don't even cover that dude.
The angle of this article is lazy & generic, especially the weak elvis comparison, but above all that it's false. Macklemore IS different from the norm and i dont see a problem in that being recognized
Why does hip hop have to be Civil? Why does hip hop have to be uplifiting for the people? Cant it jus be some shyt we do? How come Cacs aint writing time pieces about grunge rock and when rockstars used to run trains on groupies on cam and throw pig blood on people?![]()
being white i think most white people are still racist to a degree, although every race is… i'm a cac its whatever, but white people want to make rap into something it should never be: pop musicWhile one being honest does have to take into account the destructive side of hip hop. best post i've seen in a while4 sho
They wanna declaw the Tigers.
It's hypocritical as fukk. This whole damn country was founded on some corrupt/ uncivilized shyt.
All this shyt is connected. They have an agenda to turn all the male population into pussies and they're aiming at your kids. All that anti bullying shyt...gay rights/acceptance shyt..it's all propaganda.
We're men....we're supposed to be aggressive....just as long as you got some wisdom backing it up, it's all good.
But they're trying to get our young boys with this anti aggressive/anti bullying/ kumbaya/ passive p*ssy shyt.
I don't advocate bullying, but it's one of lifes first obstacles. It can be a character builder. The world's not going to coddle you.Once you step off that porch/ the confines of your humble abode, you're food for the sharks.Nobody's going to call timeout and say hey "look at this poor fella, he didn't know life's a bytch...let's cut him some slack"...nah...they're not going to give a fukk
It's some social engineering going on...operation pussification....and p*ssy ass parents are going along with it because the masses are asses
Who da fukk is they? nikka, y'all gotta stop taking these people so fukking serious. This is fukking hip-hop, a genre. One nikka that went platinum is not going to revolutionize shyt. Where do you hear his shyt at? Not in hip-hop clubs I bet. Over here they don't play his shyt on the hip-hop side, they play it on the house/pop side. Who cares what some random journalists gotta say. This white dude is not hip hop, just because he raps his versus, that doesnt make him hop. They are the media the people that group him into those categories for the award shows. When someone on tv or the radio discus him they say he is hip hop. I know its just their opinion, but they have the loudest voice and reach the most people, I just dont like how he is being considerd a bright spot in hip hop for all the wrong reasons.Who da fukk is they? nikka, y'all gotta stop taking these people so fukking serious.
