in terms of skills and how prolific he is, madlib is unmatched from any person in hip hop HISTORY! he could be the most prolific artists ever.

but if i was rapper i'd rather have alchemist produce my album

i can't think of many hip hop producers who make their living just off releasing instrumental tapes. im sure madvillainy and the unseen are a big chunk, but 80% of his work is strictly beats to be released as just that. he's a rare talent that will only be truly appreciated when he dies ( u know what i mean). i mean he's a fukking jazz quintet his only issue is the beats are so eclectic is takes a special rapper to do them justice..

alchemist tho, thats a different beast. he's equally as respectable a producer in a different way. one vs one for most part i would take an alchemist beat over lib. they have a (can't think of a word) that when i hear its just powerful, the bass and drums and samples they're just perfect to get my head nodding

and keeping it real he's been a hot streak the past few years so u can't take that away. but he needs people on his beats, idk if i could get through a whole beat tape with him..

ALC is stiff compared to Lib, but then again, no one has a grasp on rhythm and the sublime like Madlib. Even Exile, who I fukks with heavily, cant stand on the same room.

I didnt mess with all of the Yesterday's New Quintet stuff, but the fact that he pulled that off is crazy

ALC is still a living legend at this point in his career and should be commended for holding the torch while Madlibs been taking time off and encouraging collaboration
