As far as music goes B is a Pop star who seems to drop the woman's anthem for the year "every year"! Aaliyah made R&B music and was backed by some of the greatest writers producers ever (R. Kelly & Missy/Timbo) however times have changed in R&B music and rest a sure that if Aaliyah was still around she would be making that R&B/Pop music B makes now. In fact I suspect her newer shyt would probably have that "futuresexylovesounds" vibe being that's the route Timbo seemed to go in.

When shyt is all said and done like it or not B will be remembered with the legends in the same vein as the Aretha Franklin's of the world.

This is true. She's already an icon. And it's mainly because of her talent. Beyonce can sing and is a wonderful performer. Now, Aaliyah, on the other hand, wasn't that great of a singer or performer, but she made wonderful music. B also has made some wonderful music, just not in the same vein.

only had one of her albums on bootleg, mostly heard her music through girlfriends but never payed much attention to her.

The biggest difference between Aaliyah and Beyonce is One In A Million (entire album). IMO, none of Beyonce's albums are anywhere is good. Beyonce has some dope songs, but her albums are kind of disposable. They don't have longevity.

Beyonce was going to blow up inevitably because it was always clear that she was the most charismatic out of Destiny's Child. Beyonce's star power was obvious regardless of what the music sounded like.

People tend to think Aaliyah's acclaim came after her death. Well, here's what critics had to say about her last album before she died:

"Aaliyah is Control, Velvet Rope and Jagged Little Pill all rolled into one. It's the album Janet should have made with All for You, the manifesto that Beyonce thought she was penning with Survivor."

^^^ That came from a Rollingstone review of Aaliyah's Aaliyah. I just thought it was interesting especially that there were already comparisons drawn between Beyonce and Aaliyah even then.

I agree Aaliyah was big not as big as Beyonce. No way. B is one of the biggest female icons in the world. I mean, she's huge. There's little girls in third world countries that adore her and wants to look, sing and be just like her in every way. Aaliyah never reached that status. Let's be real here.

but over all Aaliyah got B, ........ B got classics though 'me, myself & I' and 'So good' are my personal favorites but they still aint seeing Aaliyah 'miss you' or 'hot like fire' and etc.
