wow. get off this site you fukking idiot.
When shyt is all said and done like it or not B will be remembered with the legends in the same vein as the Aretha Franklin's of the world.
i never knew how much guys loved Aaliyah until forums and such and now you have these rappers that act like she was their first love.
only had one of her albums on bootleg, mostly heard her music through girlfriends but never payed much attention to her.
i fukked with the chopped and screwed version of Rock The Boat i heard somewhere though.
i've spoken about her more from the myth of the Styles P line and did she play a part in breaking up the Roc than her actual music.
Yea, people almost have a cult like devotion to Aaliyah. I don't have a problem with it but when comparing her to other artists you have to be objective. Beyonce is a better all around artist. I think a lot of people tend to overrate Aaliyah, because of her death, and underrate Beyonce because of her mainstream acclaim, pop appeal and ubiquitousness. It's weird.
The biggest difference between Aaliyah and Beyonce is One In A Million (entire album). IMO, none of Beyonce's albums are anywhere is good. Beyonce has some dope songs, but her albums are kind of disposable. They don't have longevity.
Beyonce was going to blow up inevitably because it was always clear that she was the most charismatic out of Destiny's Child. Beyonce's star power was obvious regardless of what the music sounded like.
People tend to think Aaliyah's acclaim came after her death. Well, here's what critics had to say about her last album before she died:
"Aaliyah is Control, Velvet Rope and Jagged Little Pill all rolled into one. It's the album Janet should have made with All for You, the manifesto that Beyonce thought she was penning with Survivor."
^^^ That came from a Rollingstone review of Aaliyah's Aaliyah. I just thought it was interesting especially that there were already comparisons drawn between Beyonce and Aaliyah even then.

baby girl

This is not right, Aaliyah was at the fore front of the new jack swing and was RnB/hiphop way before the huge cross over mainstream appeal. Beyonce is/was big but Aaliyah was also and more loved to be honest.
Beyonce used to write dope sh1t, then she went the euro pop dance rihanna route for the fame since dealing with Jigga her star status went down. The old B could see Aaliyah toe for toe.
but over all Aaliyah got B, ........ B got classics though 'me, myself & I' and 'So good' are my personal favorites but they still aint seeing Aaliyah 'miss you' or 'hot like fire' and etc.
both way too beautiful for mortal eyes![]()
What euro pop songs does B have?
stuff like 'we run the world' is all to attract the rihanna euro pop dance market.
If you cant hear this, then fair enough.
Beyonce even started acting slutty and doing promiscuous videos like rihanna's hoe ass.
Jay cost B a lot of shine.
