she can do what she wants technically, big he’s still signed to Nike and probably would have been for life had the accident not happened. They own the trademarks/logos and obviously the show designs are theirs. She doesn’t control that aspect of his likeness, along with having control over his NBA likeness.

But the Mamba stuff is hers and the academy partners probably offered her a trash deal, plus she had no idea what their plans were moving forward. It’s not like she was even involved (with the academy) while Kobe was around. He probably sank a few bucks into the place and gave it some notoriety (which is why we know about it) and the partners ran the place day to day.

Kobe simply went the extra mile but helping out and coaching. He didn’t have to do any of that.

Legally, the estate is getting their ducks in a row instead of letting whoever do whatever with his image. It’s one thing to have a bunch of artists to murals all over the place but it’s another when his creation is being licensed. Estate is doing what they have to do in this instance.

Nike can ask for “permission” out of courtesy but the name, trademark and designs are theirs and it’s not like they have to tell the world “hey these are Kobe shoes, please buy them”. People know his kicks and logo already.

Hell, Nike can release their Yeezys if they wanted to without calling them that or do what they’ve been doing and using Yeezy elements in other shoes, like the Victor Cruz kicks. But I get the sense that they aren’t releasing anymore yeezys out of spite and Kanye has talked a lot of shyt over the years.

nike can’t do shyt really with the Kobe line. Nobody buying a shoe called Mamba. Kobe shoes had so much detail catered to him. From shoes having his birth year to the his basketball numbers to him being apart of the process of making the shoe. Kobe name leaving would cost Nike billions of dollars in future money

also Kobe created that name so I can’t say for sure that Nike own the mamba name outright

Ehh.......I hope Vanessa is not letting her Lawyers/Money dictate her decisions....Kobe partnered with the SportsAcadamy because he wanted to help young Boys/Girls....If they are selling merchandise with the Mamba logo on it it's because Kobe gave them his endorsement.

I hope Vanessa understands that all Nike and her Lawyers care about is money.
