NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
this nygga always talking about how much money he got. Pay for the sample nygga.

Ripping off artists aint nothing to be proud of..
Some artists be trying to legit rape the artists who sample them. Tracy Chapman was notorious for that shyt especially when it came to black artists. Most of the time she didn't even clear the sample. But it was cool for her to let Luke Combs flip her whole shyt tho. Nice n Smooth made like 0 money off Sometimes I Rhyme Slow.

This was always the code.

You don’t ask people where they got sh*t from. And producers never told. But in this era, a lot these "fans" feel mad entitled to information on every level. They act like they work at record labels. So this new sh*t where people are trying to call out samples and highlight where dudes got sh*t from has a lot of producers shook to sample or not get things cleared. There's too much snitching going on right now.

BTW, Nicholas Craven is wack. He can't say sh*t with those lazy ass loops he always makes.

I agree..As a producer its your job not to get caught though, there's too much music available to us as the click of a button for this to be an issue

I do wonder how much this may change going forward, with the prospect of AI apps quickly being able to determine samples. Usually independent artists are not sued for samples since they aren't selling a lot of records, but I can certainly imagine a future where that changes.

I like dude's beats, but if you're just straight up looping soul stuff and not even adding drums or changing the pitch much then you can't really complain about this kinda shyt
Yeah Craven is cool but after watching him on Rhythm Roulette it showed me just how lazy dude is.

The production game got f*cked up because of it.

I remember Rockwilder saying way back that he saw a lot of sampled-based producers switching to synths and keyboards because they were scared of the original artists coming after them. Buckwild said with the way it is now, people can just Google your work and find where you got a sample from, so the OG artists are using that to track their sh*t and sue producers to get all the bread. It's wild.

Dudes are getting whole projects pulled from platforms because the older artists want all the bread made from the samples.

As much as I love sampling, I can't help but be on the side of the artists being sampled. Using small sounds and changing them beyond recognition, I'm on the side of the producer. Its like collage art. You are knowingly using someone else's work and trying to make money off it.

I know that's taken as it's some hip hop shyt, but I don't even think these artists would ask for the world when someone is trying to clear the samples. All these genres are hip to what hip hop is and the art of sampling. The act of wanting to get away with it is why they say give me everything.

I doubt some of these rappers would be cool with someone sampling their voice especially in a major way and not clearing it.

It's actually commonplace for the OG artists to ask for 80-100% of the publishing and royalties.

There have been a million unreleased records that artists couldn't drop because the OG artists wanted to take everything for the sample. It happens all the time. They feel like Hip Hop artists need the record and they try to take advantage. That's why Dre said he started using live instrumentation. He said he was making hit records and wasn't getting paid for them because he had to give up 100% of the publishing and royalties to the OG artist. Most times, you have to be cool with not getting paid for the record, or just leaving the record off of your project because you don't want get raped by the OG artist.
