LOL @ 'genocide' and 'apartheid' and 'ethnic cleansing'. None of that is going on in Israel. I used to think it was, but that was due to propaganda.

Evidently, a lot of people still do think that's the case.

What Israel is doing is wrong, but what the Arab Nations are doing is FAR worse.

I think it’s partly because people look up to celebrities and expect them to have similar beliefs. Most people don’t care what celebrities opinions are on policial issues unless they’re related somehow. For instance, more people will care more about DJ khaleds opinion on the isreal genocide more than Lebron James because DJ khaled is palastinian. Likewise, more people will want Lebrons opinion on police brutality because he’s black.

This is what I believe is wrong with celebrity worship in the US. It’s fine for celebs to give their opinion on anything they want if they choose to. It’s that they are almost expected to give an opinion on serious political issues by the public because they are known for doing something entertaining just shows how astray people’s thought process is. They didn’t make an oath to the public to do something like that.

It’s disappointing because Mark Ruffallo has always spoke the truth for many years but finally fell back, that’s why ppl are shocked and he’s getting hate. Disney made that call
Disney wants to stay away from their founder's antisemitism as far as the possibly can, it's the same reason why they fired that star wars show chick.

lol @ this what-about-ism

even if what you say is valid (its not and there's plenty of sources from UN to Amnesty International that contradicts what you said), Arab countries =/= Palestinian people suffering in Gaza, West Bank etc

i hope you're not in threads about cops killing black folks saying "what cops are doing is wrong, but what black people do is FAR worse" smh

the real propaganda (especially proliferated through all sides of Western media up until 2021) is that this is a "conflict" of "both sides", as if the responsibility of a nuclear powered state backed by the superpower that practices military industrial complex is comparable to a people that is put on calorie restrictions in an open-air prison

People support celebrities they think they can relate to. This means they want their same celebrities to have similar beliefs. It’s no different than finding out your favorite basketball player likes the same music or your favorite rapper plays the same video games.

Also, in the 21st century celebrities are much more accessible and human. It’s not like the 20th century where celebrities were seen as mysterious and rare. You literally have regular men and women with hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. Expecting a “celebrity” to have a opinion on a political topic is no different then expecting anyone else in your life or social media to as well.
So basically celebrity worship

If Palestenians were smart they would be begging the black man for help. We are the only ones powerful enough to stop Israel. Or vocal influence would eventually overwhelm them and they would fall back. Even if it only happened momentarily.

I think it’s the opposite of celebrity worship because of accessibility. Jordan is one of the biggest black celebrities of all time yet more people care about LeBrons stance on racial issues now than they did jordan when he was playing. That’s because you couldn’t DM Jordan, you couldn’t comment under his posts on ig or @ him in a tweet. You couldn’t check his ig story to see what he was up to. Being more accessible makes them more human which makes people want more out of them. A celebrity in the 90’s could avoid political issues simply because you couldn’t reach them. You can’t do that in today’s world and be active on social media at the same time.

It’s the opposite. Celebrity worship would be giving celebrities a pass when they ignore societal issues.
It’s the opposite because people want celebrities opinion in order to hold them accountable. Jordan made billions of dollars selling shoes to black people without ever making a impact in racial justice. That’s celebrity worship. Lebron on the other hand is expected to make a statement on societal issues because people no longer put celebrities on a pedestal because they much more accessible now.

It’s still celebrity worship when you want to hear a celebrity’s opinion on any issue
I’m not trying to be funny, but your statement doesn’t make any sense

I think you just don’t understand the definition of “worship.” If you worship a celebrity you wouldn’t want to hold them accountable and to a standard. Those are literally opposing principles.

There's plenty more from the SAME sources that confirms what I said and it IS valid.
