Time and time again I've stated that couples should have their own savings account the courts can't touch. The house and cars are fair game, but you can't touch that savings account.

Both statements are true...
I think both men and women fail at making good choices on who they want to marry
Some women are just hoes
Some women are just girlfriend material
Some women are wifey material
But alot people people in general dont have good examples in there household on a daily basis to have some groundwork or foundation on what a good wife or good husband is.
My grandparent died married
My parents have been married for 39 years
I've been married for 12 years
Ive had great examples set my grandparents an parents both different types of marriage.
With my grandparents my grandmother never worked, just cooked and took care of the kids, while my grandfather owned a restaurant and roofing& construction company.
With my parents, they both worked, accomplished alot and are doing great in retirement.
But most black families don't have the example I've had, so there basing there choices off of what they believe is right other then what they know is right.
Most likey if you grew up in household where you parent made bad discision, then you will make bad choices because they parent will be who you seek advice from.
This is not always the case, some kids learn from the mistakes they see there parents make like my father did, but my mother grew up in a stable household which my is what my father wanted.
My parents went to school together so he had his household to compare his against

Also there’s less incentive for it these days as it was in the past b/c people can get basic needs met outside of it (I.e sex, economic survival, children) without dealing with the possibility of somebody being an emotional or dangerous liability.
