Thursday preview tickets seem like they're getting bought up from checking a couple showings.
I wonder what goes into the decision for studios to not want to sell tickets sooner (e.g. Superman) when it's dropping two weeks before F4.

It'll definitely be interesting which one between Superman and F4 does better this summer. I'm talkin if they both get good reviews.

Both have been in a weird state (in need of a cinematic lifeline) for ages and it's now coming at a time where both their company's were at or approaching their lowest point of good will and interest from the general public.

I think that Superman should make more money (unless the film is worse than FF).

Superman is more well-known among casual audiences than the Fantastic Four, and that will probably help it gross more (especially outside of the US & Canada).

I have Superman so far. That S is still one of the most recognized symbols on the planet. I feel a lot of families will be seeing it and a new gen of kids will be born with this being their first experience as a Superman movie.

Yeah, also Superman Returns (2006) grossed more than both Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007).

And Superman Returns is considered the weakest Superman film outside of Superman III and IV in the '80s.

I just think the world is ready for a superhero film about a hero who wants to just be a good person. The 2 trailers are really connecting to a lot of people young and old either inspiring or returning a nostalgic feeling. Superman is Superman for a reason. :wow:

And yet Thor, Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy, Venom, and even Captain Marvel were more successful at the box office than the last Superman movie. Superman is not an automatically bankable character. They're going to need stellar reviews and word of mouth. Mixed reviews will be a disaster because if there's still any negative carryover from the previous DC movies audiences might give up on it quickly.

The convo is about Superman and the Fantastic Four, not those other characters/movies.

Also, no one said that Superman is "automatically bankable".

You said Superman is more well known to casuals than F4 but he was also more well known than all those other characters. That's not a deciding factor in at the box office.

It's going to mostly be the reviews and which universe do audiences feel more attached to.

Casuals may not even know this a DC reboot and may not give it a chance because they soured on the DCEU.
