I mean he had some weird kinks of his own:patrice:

Like trying to set up frankie Beverly to fukk his wife:patrice:

Yeah that shyt was wild!

"Gaye developed a habit of steering Hunter toward other men, whether out of some perverse masochism or genuine delight.

Noting a chemistry between Hunter and Maze singer Frankie Beverly, Gaye did everything he could to set up an illicit liaison between the two. When Beverly came for a visit, Gaye not only booked him a room at a local motel but booked the adjoining room for Hunter, saying he needed her out of the house so he could focus on music.

As Hunter and Beverly smoked a joint in Hunter’s hotel room, well aware of the awkwardness, there was a loud bang at the door. It was Gaye, seemingly hoping to catch them in the act. Beverly crawled back to his room on his hands and knees, and Gaye found Hunter alone."

What actually happened? Why did his pops kill him?
There are different accounts of what happened.

The 1st

In his paranoia, Marvin Jr. had begun to stockpile guns when he returned home from the Sexual Healing Tour. He kept a cheap machine gun in his bedroom at one point until his mother insisted that he get rid of it.

For reasons not entirely clear, Marvin gave his father a handgun, an unregistered .38-caliber Smith & Wesson, at Christmas time in 1983.

On the night of March 31, 1984, Marvin Sr. was angered because he was unable to find a document concerning an insurance policy. He stormed around the house and yelled at Alberta, whom he blamed for losing the document.

He was still angry when he awoke the next morning, Sunday, April 1, the day before Marvin Jr.'s 45th birthday.

At about 11 a.m., Marvin Sr. hollered up the stairs at his wife, who was in Marvin Jr.'s bedroom. The son went to the top of the stairs and hollered back that he should speak to Alberta's face if he had something to say.

The father hurried up the steps and entered his son's room. Marvin Jr. leaped up off the bed and pushed his 70-year-old father out into the hallway, knocking him down and kicking him.

Alberta interceded and the men separated. Marvin Jr. returned to his bed.

The father got up and went down the hall to his own bedroom. After a few moments, he returned to Marvin Jr.'s threshold. He raised a hand toward his son, and Alberta could see he was holding the .38 pistol Marvin Jr. had given him.

He pulled the trigger, and shot his son in the chest, tearing through his heart. As Marvin Jr. slumped off the bed to the floor, his father strode forward and fired again. The second shot was unnecessary.

Marvin's brother, Frankie, ran to the sound of shots. His wife, Irene, called 911. Paramedics arrived to find Marvin Sr. sitting on the front porch. They demanded to see the gun before they would enter the house. Irene found it under Marvin Sr.'s pillow and threw it on the lawn.

Gaye was rushed to California Hospital. Resuscitation efforts were in vain. He was declared dead at 1:01 p.m.

The 2nd

Neighbors claimed that Marvin was high and would regularly come over and fight with his dad. They believed his father was defending himself against a junkie.

The 3rd

There are rumors that Marvin Sr thought Marvin Jr and his mother were having an inappropriate relationship.

"The real reason lay in years of jealousy on the part of his father who believed Marvin was not his son and that he was having an improper relationship with his wife Alberta.

Zeola said: “Nothing could be further from the truth. My mother did not have an affair and he was my real brother.

“There were many tensions behind the shooting but that night my father saw Marvin on my mother’s bed nearly naked, only in his dressing gown.

“In fact Marvin and my mother were lying together like that because they were reading their bibles side-by-side. My father misunderstood the situation. It was all so tragic. He pushed my father to the edge so that he would shoot him. It was a terrible, terrible time for everybody and things got to boiling point.” The star reacted by punching and kicking his father before he was shot the day before his 45th birthday at the family’s Los Angeles home.

The twice-married father of three’s last words were to his brother Frankie, asking that his mother be cared for always and that he loved her. Just days earlier he had told his family to prepare to be without him. Both parents have since died."

weird as fukk when parents are jealous of their kids

Exactly, I never understood how you could be jealous of your own kid. As a father I'd want my son to be ten times what I ever was. Chances are he'd outlive me anyway, so why wouldn't I wanna see greatness in him before I pass on?

There was so much dark energy around Marvin and his family. Violence, sexual abuse, drug abuse. Worse people can do is deny it existed as much as you can deny his musical genius. Marvin, Miles Davis, and James Brown are the most influential artists bar none of the last 50 years IMO.
