Canelo and Hatton were top tier fighters when they fought Floyd. My point is and has been that he's fought the best available fighters. Just because HOF'ers aren't available doesn't mean they're bums. Corrales, cotto, de la hoya, and Gatti will all probably be in the HOF eventually.

That's everybody though. In 67 fights Hagler really only has 2 names the general public know. Having them on there or not, changes nothing about the ones he did fight. I can't imagine Floyd's legacy being in question cause "legacy maker" Keith Thurman was left off after this fight. It's always someone.....as long as he fought his share of world champs, he's good.

You're a casual. Real boxing fans and people who are legit interested bring up sugar ray robinson all the time, what are you talking about.
You only hear about tyson and ali because you're a casual fan. De la hoya and lewis are also boxing legends. They might not be as big as tyson n ali but they are still legends.

Judah was still a good fighter too. He gave Floyd a damn good go. But people will discount it because he lost a couple fights before.

People confuse primes with hype also. Just because someone's hype dies down, doesn't mean they're over the hill

The problem with a Floyd or Roy Jones or someone like that is they didn't really leave room for anybody else to be great. The only reason Ali is considered as great as he is was due to him having to take his exile from boxing. They gave a chance for Frazier and a few other heavyweights to build their names up in his absence. In turn once a Foreman beats Frazier that elevates him to a great level. Foreman destroying Ken Norton who Ali struggled with elevates him to a higher level. If Ali never was banned from boxing and fought and beat Frazier before Frazier had a chance to build up his name he would've been accused of never really beating anybody and his record being picked apart.

Roy Jones beat numerous future world champs but was accused of beating nobody because him fighting the whole time never allowed anyone else to really build up their name and make it a superfight.

Same way when Floyd beats a Canelo, or a Cotto, or anyone else the story immediately becomes that the person he beat was overrated. Just like if he beats Pac now it'll be because all of a sudden Manny is too old or past his prime. I think if Floyd beat him 3 or 5 years ago the story would've been Manny was overrated.

now people say canelo is overrated basically because Floyd made him look ordinary and Floyd didn't take any damaged.

I have no problem with Floyd saying he thinks he's the greatest cause that's what he should think. And I think since now days with boxing being a way smaller portion of mainstream sports coverage no one will ever be considered better than Ali or SRR
