MCHG vs LIG

When/where was this consensus that LIG is a classic? You writing a term paper doesn't make that shyt anymore official.

I fukks with you though, I just think that calling either of these records "classic" is some nikkas trying to OD, either out of boredom or lack of shyt to compare it to, i'm actually pretty much done with that word in the context of a review.

Can't some shyt just be good? It's a good album, and it ain't even THAT good to be honest, the beginning starts out strong as fukk and takes a huge dip.

I didn't get the album right away. So I was askin' a lot of people about it, seein' if they liked it or whatever, before I copped.

And no lie, everyone was saying shyt like, "it's good for a Nas album today". Stretch Armstrong, who's one of my longtime friends, said on Twitter that, "this is the best we'll get from Nas nowadays, so we should try to enjoy it". I know a lot of people who forced themselves to like it. Still one of the best ever, but I'll stick with Nas from '91-'00.

I still play "Star Wars" like every other day though. That's my Nas.

I don't even think I had made it over here by the time the album dropped. So I didn't hear it in the context of who was feeling it, I got to listen to the album to myself, on long drives, I honestly couldn't get past the first 3 or 4 tracks for the longest. That little window right there shows that nas, RIGHT NOW can rap like "nas" forever. Doesn't mean he's obligated to do that though.

Loco motive was my ring tone for the longest, but the album as a whole has never really been a plug and play joint, I'd honestly take something like HHID over that as a whole (an album I have, and always will go to bat for, right along with kingdom come since we doing the comparison thing)

Look for what its worth on the classic talk, XXL did give it the classic rating so make of that what you will

I'll say this much, it kinda became the new standar bearer of what a veteran album should sound mainstream wise

I remember when late last year there was talk about Snoop and LL's comeback albums and the general talk amongst journalists and shows like Combat Jack was Why cant they approach albums like Life is Good

So depending on your view of a classic, it can certainly be looked upon as an album that's become the comparison to what vets can make in their late 30s/early 40s

I heard the same. You're right.

Which is why I rushed to cop it after hearing that. But all I kept hearing was that "it's not as boring or wack as his last few. But it's cool for him." I'm biased because I've been runnin' with dude since "BBQ" dropped, so I'm used to Nas being dope every time out!

But I'm kinda livin' in the past with that, because he's just not the same MC anymore, by way of being as commanding. I don't care about sales or whoever likes or hates on the music. I just miss the Nas that didn't miss shots.

at gkmc being a classic...that might be the most overrated album of last year...shyt was average..LIG has high quality rapping...kendrick was not even potentially spittin on that level

that album was stale by the month of august, gkmc has plenty of quality rapping song but i doubt if u listened to it, album just went plat and is still buzzing almost a year after its release while lig was within 2 months after it leaked.



its a solid album and one of the best releases last year but yall nikkas need to calm that classic talk down everytime nas makes a decent album.

It's not a classic, but I really enjoyed LIG (with the exception of Summer on Smash ). I've only listened to MCHG once; it seems like a solid effort but I have a hard time believing that I'll ever consider it a better album than Nas's.

After listening to both albums so far I like LIG much, MUCH more than MCHG.

Favorite track off of MCHG is the song with Beyonce, I'm having a hard time getting into the other songs.

The song with JT is dope but the subject matter is ridiculous to the point it makes me hard to like the song

Only two full listens on the Hov but I think LIG tops it. Better lyrics and more on some grown man shyt.
