I always advise against learning with apps, but that's cause I learned the traditional way like a decade ago, at a meditation center. Doing it in a group setting with some refreshing discussion really helps imo. Our instructor was so dope. This Asian American dude but he got cancer and died a few years ago
We used to do a series of meditations (walking, singing, etc) before we got into the full on, legs crossed type shyt.
Bottom line you can't just close your eyes and think you're meditating. Not early on at least. Find a guide and good community if possible and remember to LET GO. Even when the thoughts come, just let them gone about their way
