I'm a Knicks fan and I love Melo but let's not act like this isn't a photo op. I guess he can be given props for the Photo op because I don't see a Paul George or Jimmy Butler doing it. If it was more than a photo op he would have had a politician or activist with him, with some resources and a plan in place for when he leaves...and just maybe...no cameras. But it is what it is. I've done the same shyt in Cabrini Green in Chi when it was still standing back in 99. I had to get a pic in a foreign hood. Feeding my ego so I could be on some "yeah I'm in every hood nikka what" shyt.
And even if Melo wanted to roll with no security, there's no way MSG or the Jordan Brand is gonna allow that with all the money they have tied up in him. That's even a bad look for USA basketball.
So I think that's what may have turned some ppl off in this thread. It comes across more as "look! I'm not afraid of poor ppl!" cuz all you did was have your pic taken and pose for a mural. You didnt leave the ppl with anything. And you were very secure not just out and about for dolo.
I still fukks with Melo tho. Live ya life playboy. And let's go deep in the playoffs in 2017. :salutemelo:
This is something melo does all over the Caribbean and I'm guessing wherever else he travels
He's a man of the people. Especially the black less fortunate
It's kinda part of his brand legacy
But before u judge him for taking the photo op or passing through the favela you never know the impact just meeting Carmelo could have on kids and their life and future.
Yea Carmelo isn't not gonna solve the problems in the favela by showing up and playing a pickup game but it's better than nothing
What's Michael phelps doing?
