the older i get the more i appreciate Menace, that joint went against all Hollywood norms for black films at that time.

how anyone would ever pick Menace of Boyz in a mystery to me

Boyz got the better script, character development, acting, direction, cast, OST, everything

i love Menace but lets be real that film is just a Hood Dream movie

narrated by someone who's dead

the ending to Menace is shyt, there's way too many awful walk ons and all in all the film just lacks substance

its basically just a bunch of people pretending to be tough on screen

i watched Boyz again last year for the first time in about 15 years, maybe more

i couldnt believe how so much of the morals i stand for today came directly from that film

To be fair, you can't really compare the character development in Menace to Boys in the Hood.

One is set over the summer, the other set over 7-8 years
