I wouldn't even say he's cutting and pasting. Alot of people refuse to let Metallica evolve into anything else past the Cliff Burton era and I must admit, it was nice while it lasted and he truly had a huge impact on the way their songs were made being well versed in music structure and all.

Couple that with Dave's early guitar work they practically stole before kicking him out the band for beating Hetfield's weak ass up and you've got their early success being so heralded that anything outside of their two driving forces (Burton and Mustaine) just sounded like ahit they didn't want to accept.

And this is coming from a dude who liked Metallica from inception up to St Anger which has some alright tunes.

It’s just ridiculous to say anything after Master of Puppets was trash. There’s purists and there’s just plain dumb. … And Justice for All proves Mustaine was really not the main character he thought he was. And just because the black album has some ballads doesn’t make it weak. I just don’t get “fans” who can only thrash. Also Master of Puppets had some slow stuff but for some fans it’s still more “true” to the band’s roots. I just can’t.

Ehhhh.....let's just call them a legacy act with a dedicated enough fan base to keep selling merch/tickets with a catalogue that's deep (pause) to be worth the price of admission to see.

One could argue that they haven't out on anything good in well over a decade according to which camp you stand in, be it the Thrash metal camp or the hard Rock route they went after they cut their hair.

Plus, they gain new fans simply by word of mouth and media presence. That run on Stranger things had all kind of teen cacs rushing to buy ticket, albums, merch and shyt off one goofy written character.

If only the same would happen to black youth in regards to hearing about public enemy, NWA and Wu Tang instead of aging them out due to this erroneously used term that trends called "irrelevance".

Come on breh lol... I follow Ashanti on instagram. For reasons. But she's always doin shows as an example. Not huge venues obviously but there's support there for her and she wasn't an A-list artist either. 20 years later and she's still performing the same 6 songs.

In terms of live performances A LOT of these artists suck ass. Only a few like Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Metallica have the organizational discipline to put on quality shows night after night.

Aside from MJ and maybe even Stevie, do you know how BLACK you'd have to have been raised to have say, the Isley Bros on your daily Spotify roster or your bucket list of legendary acts to see before it's too late??

I'd say Stevie Wonder is on par with Elton John in terms of boomer popularity and nostalgia, but only one of them could announce a surprise 30 show global stadium tour and sell out in an hour off the strength of their past AND recent fans alone. And it's not Stevie Wonder. But even still, Metallica could outsell both in a heartbeat.

You're comparing apples to oranges and acting like the problem is as black people we just don't appreciate older acts the way ~others~ do but you have to look at who their fans were in their prime and who is attending the shows now.

This is a LIE. The type of lie dumbass so-called purists regurgitate over and over again until they believe it. You cannot find one credible musician or real fan that would call "Nothing Else Matters" or "One" "Unforgiven", or "Enter Sandman" or "Whiskey in a Jar" trash. None of them were written by Mustaine or had Cliff on them. Hell Elton John said "Nothing Else Matters" is a masterpiece.

2. Post black album all albums should have been aborted.

Yeah, cause the black album had no identifiable hits and totally tanked in sales /end sarcasm. gtfo.

3. Bob rock is a fukkin loser

the same Bob Rock that won producer of the year and has produced some of rocks' most legendary acts? OK!

As I said, I fukked with damn near every iteration of Metallica up until what...Death Magnetic? That had Unforgiven 3 or 4 on it? Can't remember. When it came to thrash, I always prefered Mustaine's work over damn near anything Metallica did (Even though I consider ONE the best Thrash song ever made, Fullstop.), Cliff included and all, so their Hardrock shyt was more my speed, but ask 5 people in a room about Metallica and you'll get 10 opinions 'cause folks come out of pocket with hatred and a strong sense of personal preference when it comes to them cats. The Fanbase is fukking insufferable...the older and whiter they are, too.​
