I think they just got tired of Summer Jam always getting drenched in thunderstorms every year so they went indoors (and since they can't sell out MetLife, they went to LI)

Summer Jam started falling since around 2007/08..

I attended the first 6 summer jams starting in 1994 then I picked up in 2004 when 50 was on the bill

04 was live AF.

Seems to really bring this back they would have to be willing to drop a big bag. Everyone is on their own tour or getting dollars from the marquee festivals during the summer - what would pull them from those engagements to do a Hot 97 show?


We didn’t have this many rap tours and festivals back in the day so the various Summer Jams were a big deal, it was your one chance to see a lot of big names at once. Too much competition today.

they moved it after 2022 to UBS Arena in Elmont

Summer Jam by the end at MetLife would be half empty, torrential downpours, shytty mics and the shyt would run so late, the curfew would cause sometimes an artist someone wanted to see to not go on or their set would be super short.

Why is Davido (and Burna Boy) always the go-to Afrobeat artists? Why not bring someone else? People who actually fukk with Afrobeat are probably tired of seeing the same shyt.

Why is A Boogie the host? He's old news. They could have picked any NY rapper or two who was buzzing in the streets. So many Drill rappers across Bronx, Brooklyn and Harlem.

Jadakiss has gotten very cliche. He's always everywhere. Bring other legacy acts. There's a hundred rappers to choose from and who deserve that paycheck.

Sexyy Red is not appealing up north. She can't sell tickets and shouldn't be headlining a festival.

It's crazy because Doja had no issues selling her own arena tour and Meth and Red perform consistently with no problems. It's SummerJam. Their brand itself is stale.

Doja Cat is moving no needles with an urban NY/NJ demographic
