That wasn't a Freddie biopic. The driving arc of the film was Queen...it's formation, the songwriting process, the breakup/reunion. Any real look at Freddie and a serious look at his life was washed away for the sake of a hollow, crowd pleasing moneymaker.

When I say it leads to inferior art, I'm taking about the art of filmmaking. If the goal is "protecting a legacy" and merely celebrating their music, there is a limit to how good of a film it can be.

We gone have to agree to disagree because i didn’t come out of that movie thinking I learned ANYTHING about the other members of Queen besides they helped write and compose some songs

Did we learn anything about the other band members wives or families? We certainly saw Freddie’s

Parents
Girlfriend turned fiancé turned best friend
Manager/lover
Drug abuse
Final lover

I don’t think anything about the band’s personal lives was mentioned beyond some of them ended up getting married. The movie was mostly Freddie with the band members popping up to tell Freddie he was going too far or to compose a song. Freddie and his trials and tribulations were the driving force of the movie

So it looks like they don’t have an actual Director attached yet. It NEEDS to be a black director if their going to do it right. In a perfect world Spike Lee would helm it but thats NEVER going to happen.

A Michael Jackson biopic directed by Spike Lee makes way too much sense, which is why we'll never see it. :mjcry:

Michael was a superstar by age 11.
He was a working musician years before that.
You're covering 40 years of the most famous person on Earth.
2 hours aint gonna cut it. Mans life had so many layers.
It needs to be a mini-series.
There needs to be multiple actors like in American Dream.
Evan Ross is the only choice for Bad-This Is It Michael.

The Jacksons: An American Dream is the only biopic you'll ever need.

I would rather see a Jacksons documentary about their early days in Gary, Indiana and how that community played a role in their future success.
yeah i can't see anything ever being better than that film
