I never get this about biopics. Why do we need to see a mf whole life play out? :dahell:
Never understood this.
What is the point in showing the entire life if you are just going to rush through it?

The reason Ray worked was because they used bits of his childhood as a plot device. They didn't waste time showing us Ray Charles at 5 and then Ray at 13 and then Ray at 19 etc

I feel like most biopics are pointless now for this exact reason. Everyone that's getting a movie about them has been in the public eye and on camera for decades.

MJ didnt become famous in the day of social media, and he was a notorious recluse. People really only know what the media has put out about him, stories told about him, or his music videos. Also don't know how he interacted with people behind the scenes.

That's still not enough time

Gonna be a rush job when they could've just picked one period of his life and used it to tell a focused story

I never get this about biopics. Why do we need to see a mf whole life play out? :dahell:

Do we do it with fiction? No, and we still get great films and stories. I always felt like a D'Angelo biopic about the voodoo recording sessions would make for a really great premise for a film. None of the tropes usually associated with these types of movies. Just an analysis of the minds and work behind these songs we know so well

Either that or a funkadelic movie about the original lineups last concert together. Seemless integration of the music into the plot while also showcasing the core of what the band represents.

I get that fans want to see certain highlights of their favorite artist's careers, but it should be a movie first. If it can't stand on its own, then I feel it's a missed opportunity

Don't give me a medley of imitations at iconic moments. Instead present an interpretation of these artists at a sole, pivotal moment
So you just wanna see boring ass, cliche Court room scenes

Or the typical tragic porn movie Oscar Bait like Precious

fukk the music and performances

Let's just watch him dangle a baby from a window, cut to black, we're in Neverland now :gladbron:
Or do you want a overly long movie like Ray being carried by one actor

As a matter of fact, fukk what you want. Im there day one. Hee hee

Every biopic today follows the same formula.

Opening scene is a scene of one of his most iconic moments. Probably the Motown show.

Then it'll flash back to when he was a kid and rush through his childhood. During his childhood they are going to be on the nose (no pun intended) about all the things that shaped his career.
For example they might show him mimicking his future dance moves watching James Brown on TV. There's probably a scene where he's getting bullied by some kids and they yell at him to Beat It. Maybe he'll have a favorite action figure toy and he loses one glove and gets teased for it. At school he gets fascinated by a carnival/circus style ranch. Maybe there was a girl in school he liked named Billie Jean. Corny shiit like that.

Then it'll jump to Jackson 5 performances. We'll get ABC and I Want You Back for sure. We will see them recording classic songs and being a family. More on the nose story telling will show how he's destined for a solo career.

Then we jump to his solo career and he links with Quincy. This will be where the movie really gets into it. We get all the iconic shows, Thriller, Pepsi accident, etc... it'll just be a highlight tape at this point. We'll get those stupid moments where they found the "Magic" in the studio. Michael maybe accidentally records his "Ohhh" intro for Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough and Quincy is like "You know what?.....Let's keep that."

Also his personal life will get lightly touched. Court cases. They are barely going into the PDF stuff. We will see him battling vitiligo.

Then at the end it shows his death and we get a movie montage plus with real footage as a tribute. It'll show his influence of future artists. And then it'll jump back to the first scene it started with and then end.

And don't forget the possible narration and time stamps. Every scene will show the date and where it's taking place.

Wow, I can front. This is excellent, I saw the movie in my head.
