TIM-DUNCAN-OLD.jpg

HuffPost is now a part of Verizon Media

"Among those watching the Spurs put the clamps on the 76ers was veteran star Tim Duncan. The 35-year-old was given the night off. No, Duncan was not sidelined by any particular injury. Of course, the official box score at NBA.com does list a condition that likely won’t be improving any time soon."

The media's all light hearted when the Spurs started doing this (and this wasn't just Duncan, he's sat all his star players, young and old over the years)

Now it's a complete 180 when it's Kawhi doing it.
:jbhmm:

but duncan was OLD though
kawhi leonard has played less than one season worth of regular season games the last 3 seasons

I'd rather have my star play 66 games and be rested for the offs and get a ring than worry about playing fukking Knikks in March

New league, new ways
I grew up in the 90s but this fake tough guy "bacc in my day" shyt is :russell:

The season shouldn't be no damn 82 games as is

MJ the goat but he has to throw his 2 cents in on everything:camby:

It's cool Malone played so many games but he ain't never get a chip so who cares.....there ain't no trophy for most games played

when the next tv deal is up and the players is smaller because who cares about a game earlier in the season :troll:

all this juelzing but you fail to mention the league is more competitive and cutthroat in terms of athletic demand, tempo, possessions per game than ever.

Dont nobody give a fukk about Wilt matched up with some insurance salesmen, and games with scores of 79-69

Huh? The pace of play was pretty fast in the 80’s and early 90’s

MJ was winning final games hungover he has every right to rip these new soft players
And Kawhi was winning playoff games with a gammy leg.

You're simply regurgitating another generic back-in-the-day false talking point that fails to contextualize the state of the game today.

All facts and the NBA is way late on reducing the season. 62-70 games is where the NBA should be, the '12 lockout season was an excellent blueprint...

Yes a shortened season will also shorten salaries but let's not act like these guys a

owners and players are not gonna leave money on the table like that

Coli members: "NBA regular season don't mean shyt. Winning the scoring title don't matter if your stats don't go up in the playoffs. Getting a 1 seed don't matter if you don't win a title. Finals MVP > Regular season MVP"

Also Coli members: "Why are teams sitting their stars in random regular season games because they think it'll make them better rested for a deep playoff run?"

:unimpressed:

Ppl gonna have to just get over it....all this outrage over athletes preserving their "main tool" which is their body is stupid to me and starting to venture into the:mjpls: territory. It's the game now
nah, it's not :mjpls: territory

I've saved up and made big plans to go see players I like only for them to sit out, it's bullshyt

Also, "preserving their body" is fine and dandy but if that's gonna be the case people need to kill all that reckless talk shytting on past legends that DIDN'T do this p*ssy load management shyt :manny:

I know you're slow, but you do realize that when someone points out to you that you're failing to contextualize something properly, you don't respond by saying the same thing. You're inadvertently admitting, again, what they're saying you're doing. Even worse that you have no self-awareness to see that you're the one who's the village idiot because you can't comprehend this.

:picard:

Whatever my opinion of Steph's offensive impact is (which is one of many things I've said that you've taken out of context) has absolutely no relevance here, and it only further exposes yourself for trying to deflect.
