Everything. He chose to make a spectacle of himself hoping it would work in his favor because society caters to so many gays now. He knew he was undersized and unfit to play pro so he tried the queer angle. It failed. Now he's just known as a cocksucker. Interestingly enough, he made the choice to tell everyone and make A joke of the draft.
This is basically it. You can be mediocre, you can be a distraction. But you can't be mediocre AND a distraction.
Tim Tebow learned the same lesson.
Sam isn't a good enough player to be worth the constant distraction and attention whoring that comes with him. He'd have a higher chance of being on a roster if he wasn't gay, but it's not for the reason he thinks. Without him being gay, there's no attention whoring media frenzy, so a team might be more willing to deal with him.
And you probably can't name any of them, or at least most fans can't...which is pretty much how teams prefer it.
No team wants to deal with all the nonsense that comes with having the 'first gay NFL player' if all he returns is practice squad level output.
