I hate music biopics as a general rule especially since Dewey Cox exposed the whole formula but they nailed the MJ casting

Ive seen the trailer like 10x already. I dont think jafar looks exactly like michael but besides that he has everything LOCKED DOWN

As a grown man, "man in the mirror" brings a tear to my eye, because that song makes you hold yourself accountable. I can see myself crying to that or "whos loving you".

Pause but i love the way 10 yr old michael sang that song, smokey robinson (who wrote the song originally) said that song belongs to michael after he heard michael sing it

Only suggestion I have is to perhaps CGI his eyes which was one of his most prominent features imo his nephew resemble Mike but the eyes don't have the Old Soul

People saying Jafaar doesn’t look like Michael I don’t think ya’ll understand, the casting process wouldn’t have found ANYBODY closer. Jafaar is literally MJ’s blood relative, sharing similar height, build, and body structure. You’d have to literally resurrect 25 year old Wylie Draper to find anyone who could have more closely resembled Michael Jackson.

The main facial difference between Jafaar and Michael is the eyes, which is why the nose prosthetic looks slightly off. Its not the nose, which actually resembles MJ’s original nose, its that MJ had bigger eyes, but if you look at how they’ve got him looking in the Thriller/Bad era, the resemblance is almost uncanny and THATS the real challenge. Getting an actor who could resemble Michael through the “surgery era” where he went through not one, not two, but SIX rhinoplasties, had his hairline and eyebrows tattooed, and had a goddamn CLEFT put in his chin. Not to mention the conditions he couldn’t control like vitiligo and having to wear wigs and hair-plugs due to premature balding spurred by his horrific burning accident.

We’ve seen what it looks like when they get any ole actor to play MJ and throw white makeup and a wig on him. Flex Alexander looked TERRIBLE. They definitely did the right thing casting Jafaar.

This popped up on my YouTube the other day

Maybe one of mikes most underrated performances , from later part of his career

Mike looked genuinely happy on stage , throughout most of it , soaking up the crowd and the energy from the performance ( slash part should have been cut length wise )

Didn’t seem to be sloppy , like in some of those New York performances for his tribute-

Good trailer but I still don't know what to think of it. Damn near every music biopic that has come out in the last few years has felt like a lazy advertising vehicle for selling music to young people (and re-selling it to boomers). That Springsteen movie looks god awful, the Dylan film wasn't good despite a great performance from Timmy C, etc. There's this constant template of "the artist struggled, met a woman they loved, started getting some success and then became a massive star! The end" in each.

Fuqua is a really good director so I hope this is different.
