I need to see it to believe it. Sony ain't gonna bite. We'll see...
But Sony hasn't had a wall on crossplay since PS2 days. I'm not sure I see a reason for people to assume they'd suddenly be against this when they're currently allowing crossplay already.Phil Spencer is clearly by far the best executive in video games today. Between this and them pretty much merging the Xbox and Windows 10 gaming platforms he's showing he can do no wrong. He should have been running shyt from day one.
Of course I expect Sony to block this because it's Sony but the fact that Microsoft took the wall down on their end is impressive.
With a direct competitor? Nah.But Sony hasn't had a wall on crossplay since PS2 days. I'm not sure I see a reason for people to assume they'd suddenly be against this when they're currently allowing crossplay already.
I've heard over the years developers say that Microsoft were the roadblock before for crossplay with games last gen where Sony was open to allowing that game to cross play. With a direct competitor? Nah.
Sony is the big fish in the home console market. Let's not act like they're pro-consumer either. This is the same company that released PS2 games on the PS4 and if you already own those games you'll need to rebuy them to play them. Them allowing you to play games with friends on a direct competitor's product has no benefit for them.I've heard over the years developers say that Microsoft were the roadblock before for crossplay with games last gen where Sony was open to allowing that game to cross play.
Hell, Portal 2 was a straight up "link PSN and Steam" together type thing.
It's crazy how Microsoft have spun this announcement to look like they are bringing something new here when they've been the ones who were trying to keep their ball at home and now people are like "Come on Sony what's the hold up?"
The revisionist history going on here![]()
I didn't imply that.Sony is the big fish in the home console market. Let's not act like they're pro-consumer either.
That's wack. The only plus I see is at least the PS4 versions aren't the same exact version as the PS2 classics(up scale, trophies, system features support etc.)This is the same company that released PS2 games on the PS4 and if you already own those games you'll need to rebuy them to play them.
Idk... I don't think in reality the average person is really going to know this or take all this into consideration. People are still going to be on PS4 with other PS4 players and those already on Xbox well, nothing's changed.Them allowing you to play games with friends on a direct competitor's product has no benefit for them.
This trash will be on Steam sale for $10 after six months. Now drop some cross platform exclusives over here. Uncharted 4 on Xbox/PC and suddenly the haters will act like they was always on board.![]()
