that's a big gap is all i'm saying.. i'm not one of the people that thinks it's a useless piece of shyt. the tech is amazing for what it's worth

my only issue is, it's an add-on. a controller is a requirement.. you can't play certain/most/all games with no controller. you couldn't play most games if you took off 3-4 buttons

but the kinect ADDS to games. you can play perfectly fine without it. so for a certain type of gamer, it's seen as a product that isn't needed OR wanted. you couldn't tell me why a MUST have a kinect except for the fact that MS said i have to have one. you can tell me why i SHOULD want one.. why is NICE to have one.

but not why it should be mandatory if you are not the type to like or play those types of games. it's not like you're voice commanding something that the controller doesn't do anyway. it's a convenience thing and shouldn't be mandatory.. especially when people might just be paying for something they won't use.




@PS4 i've used my kinect for a lot of games. i was just given the latest madden so i'll try it out on that too.. it did help in mass effect to not have to cycle through powers every damn time. i'm sure they'll find a million uses

all i was saying is, i would rather have paid 399 or whatever it may be... then wait until i found the feature that makes me say "damn i need to get one of those" then go out and get it.. it is what is it now. we have no choice.. but it would have been nice

It wouldn't have been. Kinect 1.0 already went that route and became the fastest selling device in eletronics history. But developers still didn't want to commit to it because it wasn't mandatory. Now that it is, besides the non gaming uses, there will be more GAME uses for it because of this. You'll see when the PS4 versions lack features that we will appreciate. Sony shot themselves in the foot for backing down. You will see

Do they Have to? Based on the specs, PS Camera should be better than the Kinect 1. Is the average person gonna really care if the PS camera is a Kinect 1.5?
But anyways, for the New Samsung SmartTVs to have all those features, it probably has a ARM System on a Chip that is found in top Tablets & Smartphones, so it that means Samsung's SmartTVs have their own multi-core CPU, GPU, & RAM.

He can read, he said it appears that the PS4 will have more systems available for launch even tho both will sell out. Since sony was like "take unlimited preorders" its understandable why he wouldn't want to take a bet like that. Nope, Xbox is done in the U.K. The Xbox1 is getting trashed even harder in U.K. than it is in the U.S. The only chance Xbox1 has is the U.S.

I like how you had to settle for the U.S. & U.K. again, when Sony already has the lead in emerging countries like Brazil, India, Mexico, Middle-East, & China. PS4 about dominate world-wide from the beginning.

But a camera/mic is replacing remote controls. Automatic sign ins/controller switching is replacing manual inputs. And having voice and motion controls within every game will be standard in the future.

For the people saying Kinect 2 is going to be a lot better than this let me break a few things down for you.

Kinect 2 will do 3D depth tracking at 512 x 424 @ 30FPS

PS4Eye will do 3D depth tracking at 1280 x 800 @ 60FPS

640 x 400 @ 120FPS

&

320 x 192 @ 240FPS


Kinect2 will do normal RGB video @ 1920 x 1080 @ 30FPS & 3D at 512 x 424 @ 30FPS

PS4Eye will do 3D RGB video @ 1280 x 800 @ 60FPS using the 2 cameras





Kinect2 will have an IR array so it will work in most lighting conditions & settings

PS4Eye has a F/2 which is really good in low light my HX9V lowest F-stop is 3.3 & it's good at recording video in low light at 60FPS so PS4Eye with a f/2 will be even better & shouldn't have much problems tracking people in low light conditions @60FPS & with the 2 camera setup it will be removing the background so that's another problem fixed.


I'm not saying Kinect 2 won't be better at 3D tracking but from the specs it doesn't look like it's going to be a clear cut winner above the PS4Eye.

summing up this entire thread i think i see what the problem is


gaming system vs everything system

some people trash the kinect because they don't see the improve on THEIR type of games... sandbox, FPS, sports, action/adventure in 3rd person. so they see this as a "gimmick" to get casual gamers and motion playing games to buy the system. they could care less about ANY of these features because they never needed them before, and wouldn't care if they didn't have them now

these are most of the people upset that it costs 499 and would love to just pay less and not have one


on the other side we have those who are looking into the future. they believe that devs will now make leaps and bounds in gaming, but more importantly, every thing else.. you won't have to sign in, just stand there.. it'll help with tv things, menus, voice commands, and such... the 3-4 features it might add to a game, will be well worth it. and the games that are completely motion, are pretty fun anyway

they are under the assumption that if it wasn't included, devs wouldn't care about this anyway.. so it had to be done









all i can say is, i'll wait and see.. i always end up buying both systems for the exclusives anyway. i just happen to fall into the category of, i wouldn't cry if i didn't have it. nothing in the last gen would have made me say, i NEED a kinect.. it was given as a present and i still don't use it much, if at all

i guess time will tell.. sales really don't matter when the wii kicked ass.. i don't want to hear about what features might come.. i want to SEE with my own eyes, some amazing shyt that makes me say "dammit i need to go this RIGHT NOW" and until i do see that actual game and those actual features. i can do without
