The status quo itself as it is is unsustainable so what are you even saying? Exploding budgets with development cycles that take almost an entire console generation to complete. If the game flops the studio is most of the time shuttered. Accelerating game prices. Companies having studios chase trends when the development cycle is so long that by they time the game comes out public opinion has shifted. Companies trying to shift unnecessary games to live service models. How many Suicide Squads and Concords can the industry take?
You may be right that Game Pass is unsustainable but the industry itself hasn't come up with an alternative that's any more sustainable outside of free to play and mobile games or scaling back drastically ala Nintendo who is usually more than a tech generation behind.
