you fooling yourself if you think they weren't already tracking you with or without the help of microsoft
Thats not true. I used to work for this company that i suspected was gonna force people into the office in 3-4 months. So i changed my address . they had a rule that if you live 25 miles within the office, you have to come in. I kept working remote for another 2 years then. I lived 5 miles away from the job :dead:

Yeah I work for a major corp and they def know wherever you login at.

If you login 1 day in another city/state they may not say anything but they know. So if you're planning a week vacay in Miami and you going to pretend like you're wfh, I wouldn't do that

What kind of boss doesn't know if their team is at home or the office?:wtf:

Thought this was gonna share your location so if I'm working from home they can be like "motherfukker why are you at the beach?"

I think this is for the employees that swipe their badges and then go home.
theres this random dude who comes in, sits at somebody else desk, takes one meeting and leaves. Companies know if you are in office or not now. Teams isnt gonna make that easier. when im offsite i have to actually login to vpn. While on site i just plug in to their network. seems pretty easy to me to verify

how would that work when I'm connected to the VPN. I'm always at work location ...

either way we as long as we WORK on the working days it doesnt matter where we work.

the author of the article must not be tech savvy either, because ALOT of people who come to the office usually get direct connection through the usb-c doc, as most that I know of dont use the office wifi, they just connect to the doc. And as you mention, they also log into VPN.

Also not sure every network admin will use this, as they have other things to think about.

Not gonna work bro. Lol.

yeah it does :what:
  • At home: Set up a WireGuard server on your router
  • While traveling: Your travel router runs as a WireGuard client.
  • Result: Every device connected to the travel router routes all traffic through your home network it looks like you’re at home no matter where you are.

These companies know everything. It's just a matter of effort. IT doesn't care to be checking where every employee is, what they're doing and their keystrokes. But when something happens like layoffs or an investigation, they will be able to pull up where you were, how long you were there, all your IM chats, and every thing you clicked on.
