I'm here 5 days a week. It is what it is.
Same. I never started the WFH stuff cause I figured they'd cut the cord at anytime so I wasn't just trying to get used to it.

To my surprise it has become the norm at my job with most people only coming in once or twice a week. I'm still just gonna continue to come to work everyday since I've been doing it for a decade anyway.

on another note the other day I went to a Microsoft conference on artificial intelligence.

And before walking into the building, there was a protest of I guess you could say pro-Palestinian protesters and they were handing out flyers, saying how Microsoft AI and Azure and different type of Microsoft technologies is helping Israel bomb and oppressed the people of Gaza that was the first time in my career that I’ve ever been in that situation questioning my integrity.
Do I go in or not.

Why does it matter if you are working remotely? I could see if people supposed to be in office and trying to get over but if I am remote I can be wherever as long as I am working.

Misery loves company. My company has announced they want us back in the office in January to foster a "champion mindset". It's a bunch of word salad and bullshyt. I haven't worked in an office since BEFORE covid and best believe I'm plotting my goddamn escape. fukk these cacs.

I at least give them credit for not using the usual "collaboration", or "We're better together," lines of bullshyt. :ehh:

I don’t really think this changes much. Wouldn’t they know if you’re working from home or not anyway? If you have to use a key swipe to park or get in a building/suite, they can track the usage. Plus if your boss works in the office as well, they’d know if you aren’t there. Unless you’re working for a company/firm where most of the work is done with people in different cities, but then again why would they care if you’re in the office or not when all of your work with them is done remotely?
Swipes are the way they track office usage for sure. Even at a certain FAANG company I used to work at, you were also required to swipe OUT so they could track how long you were in the office.

I have too many distractions at home. Not to mention, as a director, how many random meetings I have with people because I can just see them or walk to their office. It's different than just randomly Teaming people and shooting the shyt with them. Also, for my staff that's here, I'm always here.

Then you already have other issues if you can't tell someone is missing from their in-person job :mjtf: someone simply walking to your desk should be enough to expose you.

Even if you work on a "big" campus

a simple "hey meet me near the XYZ spot in the building" would force most people to admit they aren't there.
Some places don't have assigned seating and are large with open offices. It's easier to slip away in places like that.

My company already does this.. 3 days in the office 2 at home.

There are people that just swipe their badge then leave the office after like 20 minutes.

They are monitoring it more closely by checking if you are connected to the office WiFi or on VPN.

I go in at 8 and leave at lunch around 1-1:30 lol. Beat afternoon traffic :ahh:
That's what I'm bouta go, but I got in at 10 AM today, bouta leave at 130 PM :ohlawd:

if you work remote and/or use company equipment. Already move as if you’re being tracked.

God Bless y'all that have to deal with that oppressive bullshyt. I would have been fired during the first wave of ignoring all this shyt.

Yep. I don’t use my work laptop for anything personal except if I’m ordering lunch online or something and not using my phone for it. I move as if they know every thing I say. I’ve seen people fired for pulling up porn on their work computer before.

MFA & VPN will tell the IT guy not your boss
Not scalable as a where are you solution
Yeah, but if your boss is really pressed to find out where you are, we can get that info in like 5 minutes. Most of the time, these requests come from HR anyways.

Because they don't want you logging into to do work while you're on an Alaskan cruise and not using your allotted vacation time
