I can understand why they had trouble finding humor in this. It's hard to be enthusiastic about an election where a party with a 7% approval rating gained seats in an election with the lowest turnout on record for a mid term. Probably the sorriest excuse for an election I've ever seen. Andrew Sullivan was right. The democratic candidates performance in this election was pathetic. Instead of standing up for what they believed in and supporting the President's accomplishments, they let the republicans control the message. Just sitting back and watching the republicans do stupid stuff isn't enough. The average American's attention span is way to short for that to work.

It's hard to get excited and joke about people voting against their own self-interest under the guise of "freedom and liberty". It's depressing to realize that Americans voted for the GOP to "fix Congress" when they're the very party that broke it to begin with. It's like hiring a burglar to watch your valuables.

Kansas Governor To Expel All Poor People from State

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has pledged to make his unpopular conservative economic policies succeed – by forcibly expelling all poor and lower middle-class people from the state.
Despite hurting Kansas’ economy with his deep tax cuts for the rich and budget cuts on education and social services, Brownback survived a tough reelection challenge in the reliably conservative state from Democrat Paul Davis, who had the backing of state Republicans opposed to Brownback’s policies. In his second term, Brownback, a darling of the Christian right, pledged to continue his agenda.
“Throughout this election, the mainstream media claimed my economic and social policies have turned this great state of Kansas into a red state nightmare,” he told supporters at a rally in Topeka. “And I admit, when you look at the numbers and when you talk to average people who live here, they weren’t exactly wrong.
“However, your support for my reelection has only convinced me that I’m on the right track and just need to work twice as hard this term to ensure my policies turn Kansas into a conservative model for the rest of the country. I believe, by the grace of God, I can do this simply by getting rid of all these ungrateful poor people who would rather keep moaning about their public schools and their libraries and their poverty instead of earning more money.”
Brownback told his stunned audience that his next action as governor will be to sign an executive decree expelling all Kansans who fail to meet strict income standards.
“The success of these policies depends on the rich keeping more of their money. So unless you earn at least $100,000 a year, then you’d better start packing your bags,” he said. “I’m sure those liberal blue state hippies in Colorado, Missouri and Iowa will be happy to take you in. Plenty of welfare to go around there.”

LOL - this country needs change. With the congress divided that wasn't going to happen. They will now be able to hopefully make some changes (especially at local levels) to create growth. Obama has us on the right path and the infastrature is there. I think having some differences at the state levels will really put the conservative policies to a test...for example , despite the poor story above regarding the Kansas Gov Sam Brownback - is ideas of reducing income tax and increasing state sales tax is a great move to see if allowing citizens to keep more of their purchasing power = a better economy. Although we know theoretically this policy is really focused on the rich and probably hurts the poor - lets see it in action.

Obama motivates the base. His mere presence makes a lot of people happy. I understand that southern dems couldn't have Obama too close but outside of the south? SMH. Meanwhile Obama been campaigning on the minimum wage all year and all 5 states that had it on the ballot passed it. Yet Obama's "policies are unpopular" right? smh...
You get the government you vote for...and the government you don't vote for in this case. I don't want to hear any complaining from people. Nearly a million people in Florida won't be getting healthcare now.
