Let me give you revisionist history nikkas and cacs a real history lesson on that snake ass cac D'Antoni time in NY
It started with Marbury.
D'Antoni never liked Marbury going back to Phoenix even when they made the playoffs but the Knicks couldn't get rid of Marbury without cause. D'Antoni set Marbury up by not playing him. When asked by reporters why a healthy Marbury was DNP "Coaches decision". It got so out of hand that on the bottom of every Frank Isola article in the Daily News was a stat called "Money For Nothing" how much was Marbury's salary for the games he was DNP and total salary for games DNP.
D'Antoni would finally play Marbury, Marbury would help the Knicks win a game then sit again. D'Antoni went to Marbury again but this time Marbury told him if he's only playing if he plays every game from here on out, D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh used that as insubordination and got rid of Marbury.
When asked about D'Antoni Marbury replied "I wouldn't trust that man to watch my kids"
Let's move onto Nate Robinson
It's a known fact Nate is streaky but he was a fan favorite but not a favorite of D'Antoni. D'Antoni would do it again, he would DNP Nate for 18 straight games.
It got so bad at The Garden fans where chanting "WE WANT NATE" I was there for 2 of those games. Knicks out of playoff contention they held the 7th seed when the DNP started where down 20 in the second half, D'Antoni puts Robinson in the game. Nate tears it up scoring 40+ leading the Knicks to a comeback victory in overtime.
Unlike Marbury Robinson would not buck and just rode out the rest of the season.
Let's look at the players D'Antoni and Walsh would get rid of because they "didn't fit his system" but would go on and contribute to other teams and have deep playoff runs.
Z Bo
Channing Frye
Trevor Ariza
Nate Robinson
David Lee
Lee finess the Knicks for a max contract and a trade to Golden State and he has a ring now
Miss me with the Melo hate and understand who's the source in this.
