Kevin hart is mad corny. and panders to the gay community with his antics.

Compare a move like Harlem Nights to Ride Along or Wedding Ringer..:stopitslime:
you cant....kevin hart always been basically a bootleg dl hughley just a bit funnier:ehh:
for all kevin hart success does he even have a classic like a harlem nights? No:ohhh:
thats:lupe: in itself when you think how huge he is it could def be "the push" but im sure his work ethic has equally
to do with it I gotta give him credit cause most comedians would have been fully RIP after soulplane:mjlol:

It sucks that Kevin Hart is catching a lot of heat for being popular. People like em. He's riding his wave for now. I do feel like Mike Epps feels a bit salty. Like he is forever a Day Day/Sidekick caliber actor and never the type to be the main character in 100 million+ movies.

Hes an entertainer, so he entertains. As far as reading scripts and performing, that's what actors do so....

Kevin Hart is like Drake to me. I see him everywhere, I see people stanning him. I see people bigging him up then I check his material and its just aight. Makes me question why someone with such average material is being put on a pedestal and stanned like this. Dont get me wrong. He has made me laugh like Drake is capable of making good songs, but nothing they do makes me think they are any better than their peers and deserve to be considered "on top". Could be marketing. Could be something im missing. Could just be that he is that good and im just a hater :yeshrug:. It is what it is

Saw Epps live a couple of years ago at a college and he was terrible. He was literally saying shyt from his movies as jokes. I've never really got the hype with him, but he's more than decent as long as he stays in his lane as Day Day character. I'm interested in how he portrays Pryor though. This may be his one shot to transition to a level like Hart.

As for Kevin, I can't hate on him. I'm a big fan of his hustle. He seems like a decent guy who's capitalizing off of his opportunity to strike while the iron is hot.
He's the same guy he's been since he came in the game. It's just that he's truly blown up and crossed over and now he's getting a lot of exposure. I've seen him live a few times and he's funny, but each show is less funny than the last one. The combination of over exposure, declining material and higher ticket prices don't work well for me.

We will never see a run like Eddie in the 80s again. To be honest none of the dudes on "top" since him can claim to have a classic on the level of Harlem Nights. Martin, Rock and Chappelle all have classic TV shows and stand up material, but none of them have classic comedy movies like that.

Martin only comes close if you include Bad Boys (more action/buddy cop flick) or Life which is a certified classic, but that always felt more like an Eddie movie to me.

Even with that said, I can't say Hart deserves mention with those guys though if that's what you were getting at :heh:

Kevin is currently that nikka in hollywood in terms of comedy, but look at his movies and tell me one that's actually been funny or even near to a classic. His been very smart in terms of his social media approach. I mean he even had those Sony execs bytching as he got paid for pushing his movies to his twitter followers.

But just like I said in that Don Lemon thread Kevin is an known entity to them, he will never rock the boat politically or socially, his climbed the mountain and is happy there for now, until the always fickle people stop loving him. And that will mean he'll never have a true comedic legacy once people get tired of him. Guys like Chapelle,Rock and Murphy could play that balancing act of being 'real' and being the fool sometimes and their material still stands up all these years later. Kevin Hart is the emperors new clothes of comedy.

Lowkey a lot of comedians hate kevin hart, call it jealousy or whatever but they don't think hes funny enough to be where hes at in the game and one thing about comics is they're like a brotherhood for the most part and love and respect good material from one another so it ain't just blind hating. He's not a great to them. When you think about comedians that had runs like his, Pryor,Foxx,Murphy,Rock,Chapelle. Those guys have legendary standups and classic movies and roles and legit respect of other comedians for being legit funny. Kevin Hart doesn't really have that but let him get his money.

I can believe it. I always find it funny when Kevin Hart is mentioned on Corey Holcombs show, you can tell that Corey likes the opportunities Kevin offers, but isn't really feeling him as a comedian.

Mike Epps has a point... aint a fan of his comedy.

Kevin Hart is riding off the wave of his hype, he hasnt been funny in 5-7 years

Whether he's still funny or not is subjective. What's not subjective is his success. Mike Epps was saying that Kevin Hart's social media following isn't real. But Kevin Hart's movies are making a lot of money, and that invalidates what Mike Epps was saying. Ride Along had a budget of $25 million and actually made $153 million worldwide, including a record for highest domestic opening weekend gross in the month of January by grossing $41.5 million. About Last Night = budget of $12.5 million, worldwide total of $49 million. Think Like A Man Too = $24 million budget, made $70.2 million. And that's just last year. Of course, other comedians would have benefited from having social media - you can say that about virtually any older artist/celebrity who didn't come in during the social media era.

Epps is coming off as either jealous that he's not getting the love that Kevin is (it's gotta burn him up, because everyone thought he was going to blow up after Friday After Next), or bitter that Kevin dissed his career during their spat. At any rate, he should either stop talking about Kevin Hart altogether or be consistent. Don't diss him during an interview, say you're going to get your kid to slap him, and then say "oh I support him because he's a black man." :comeon: Diss his actual talent/quality if you want, but I'm more interested in the Richard Pryor biopic than I am about his beef with a more successful comedian/actor.

Epps would be better off by just showing and proving how much better of a comedian/actor he is and letting people judge for themselves.
