When are you going to talk about all these great hitters that overcome terrible starting pitching with their locker room presence? Or are we going to ignore that half of baseball?

Barry did win shyt tho, he won pennants. This ain't Basketball or Football. Pennants mean a fukking lot. :snoop:

Only 5 teams even make the playoffs in both leagues and back then, it was just 2 80s and 90s and 4 in the 2000s. Playoffs is a major accomplishment.
Pujols the GOAT. He’s got the MVP’s and more than just pennants

Simmons
Ontani
Fletcher
Calhoun
They had Justin Upton
Kinsler
Escobar before the injuries
Maybin when he was effective more consistent

Not to mention even, outside of this year. The pitching depth wasn't awful. They just lacked a true #1 or #2. Middle of the rotation guys but that's never stopped teams with superstars from winning. In the playoffs or in making the playoffs of course but not in the regular season.
Exactly. They haven’t been the worse team in the world they just aren’t a good team . And with the new baseball you don’t need a ace you need a bunch of new style hitters and a bullpen to be competitive. Look trout is a great player but he doesn’t have the Bonds effects where teams gameplan to stop bonds and doesn’t have a deep playoff run to his record either and is turning 30. I’m not saying he’s the goat ever until he does it on the biggest stage

Ok but @#1 pick has a good point . Why are we calling trout the goat and most valuable but also saying he can’t do anything about a bad team . So then are we looking at things in a vacuum and pretending it’s not pressure on a player on a winning team to perform than say a player on a losing team ? Idk . But advanced metrics are getting kind of out of control
Breh, they know. But like I said before. Cacs have ruined the conversation on Baseball. It used to be about real shyt. Old nikkas at the barbershop would be breaking shyt down. A lot of them dead. Old cacs too.

We in the white bytchassness era. Where we eliminated people based on perception. Where we look at the stats and not the impact. Joe Carter is a legend because when shyt got real, he became a monster.

He's got a few years but if he stays with a bum franchise his whole career because he likes the beach rather than make a move to win a world series I think we'd be right to question his competitive spirit

I got Bonds over him for that reason

Simmons had a higher WAR then Trout one year, did he have a winning record that season. The answer is: No

Its obviously clear its there. The Brewers are over .500 with below average baseball team in the thick of the playoffs wild card spot in one of the TOUGHEST divisons in Baseball

Simmons had a higher war by .4 the year trout tore his thumb ligament and missed 6 weeks

We just gonna agree to disagree , you said sosa wasn’t a superstar but mark prior was :mjlol:

Ah yes...the Mike Trout is the best baseball player in the world but his team never even remotely competes for a playoff spot let alone a championship...BUT you can't really expect Mike Trout to impact the Angels ability to win because "baseball players can't effect the game like that"...

You can be the best player in baseball and not have the same impact on winning as starts in other sports do. It's common sense...............

NBA: Play both sides of the ball, and it's 5 v.s. 5 with a bench.
NFL: It's 11 v.s. 11 and both sides work as an entire unit.

Mike Trout can't control the Angels pitching rotation or the other batters on that team.

Now you trolling. Prior prime window was small af but when he was great, it carried the team. Sosa was a superstat. But not a superstar. He was a spectacle. You trying to say I think Prior is better than Sosa which no way in hell is possible. His prime was small af. Sosa played a lot of years. It's like comparing Derrick Rose with Kevin Love pre Cleveland

how did Bonds "impact winning" when the Giants won 3 titles as soon as he left? :jbhmm:
They added great players who were historically great at their positions for that season and won. They only won 72 games the next year Bonds retired and Lincecum won the Cy Young. They added Buster Posey in the draft. Bumgarner came and shined. Had the best staff in Baseball with a very good offense and dominated baseball. Great players who fit in numbers win championships. Just facts... you act like the same team but without Bonds won titles

That was a different squad for the most part.

:gucci: You know nothing about baseball. One player can never lead a team to the playoffs it’s not the Nba or Nfl.

Disagree. One player can't, but Trout had the option to leave Anaheim for a competitor and chose the money which he would have got anywhere had he tested free agency. He doesn't want to win.

Baseball is at the same time the most individualistic sport and the most team dependent sport. As a hitter, you go up there by yourself and basically get all your numbers (save RBI and RS) on your own. However, you get just as many at bats as the 9th best hitter and the most important player, the pitcher, changes every game and multiple times in a game. Imagine if the 9th man got just as many shots as KD. Imagine if the Chiefs played a different QB every week and played 3 or 4 every game. Putting team success/failure all on one guy is bad enough in the other sports but at least you don't have all that going on. I think Trout has a ways to go to be GOAT, but the quality of the Angels isn't gonna be the determining factor.

Why do nikkas pretend Bonds didn’t use roids lol

He wasn't the only one and he was a first ballot HoF and certified great before he started using. You still need the hand eye coordination and bat speed to do what he did in Frisco. There were a lot of bums juicing as well that didn't put up half the numbers Barry did.
