Now hear me out. Me growing up as youngin, i admired the various superheroes because most of them were extraordinary in their normal lives, and that amazingness lead to them getting powers.


For example, bruce banner is the world's preminent nuclear physicist and biologist, Tony stark is what a smart Elon would be, and green lantern was a fighter pilot ace.

Now, what about spiderman? Peter parker got his powers because he was one of the best biologists on earth working at the Marvel equivalent of Pfizer or Moderna. Isnt this cool? Isnt this how he keeps making cool weapons and sht?





Miles morales gas none of this. I hate to say it but...His only special quality is being a black dominican.





I feel like marvel dumbed him down. He couldve been a better role model if he were smart. Does this bother anyone else?

I prefer the smart characters to have some sort of weakness to counter the advantage of genius, otherwise they just became mary sues that can do anything.

Example: Good Genuis: Banner, smart as a human, but dumb as rocks as the hulk. that works.
Smart hulk is trash though.

Example: Good Genuis: tony stark, smart as a human, but also weak. needs time to suit up to be effective.
Extremis Iron man/suit hidden in his body trash though. now he's basically just super man but also a genuis.

The thing about the OG SpiderMan is that he was the quintessential relatable hero. Read some of the very first 1960's comics and Peter Parker really was just a skinny, glasses-wearing, no girls-getting nerd living with his auntie and uncle in a lower middle class neighborhood. Until he went on a field trip and his life changed forever. Yeah he was smart but he was like any other kid growing up and that's why the story hit so hard.

The way they portray Miles Morales is more or less in a similar vein.

Y’all nikkas really just be coming in here saying anything. Breh goes to one of the best private schools in the city and is on track to go to Princeton in the movie. Is in all AP classes and has straight A’s. There’s no such thing as a stupid Spider-Man. The hero is inherently smart across EVERY universe because they have to be to survive. Just because his intellect isn’t highlighted as his main personality trait doesn’t mean he can’t mentally spar with the best of them.
