I'm still skeptical that this is even a real game. Every time I look at the trailers and "gameplay" it reminds me of that fake Cyberpunk gameplay reveal back in 2018.

It's not worth the financial gamble to attempt to sell a new IP to the modern gamer unless you're an established developer and/or cashing in on already established franchise. There's no way I'd throw money behind an original IP I had to fund as a new developer given gamers' attitude to anything that isn't a remake of a 15 - 20 year old game or a sequel to a three year old game. In the next breath, they're confused why the industry has become so risk adverse and games are cancelled at unprecedented rates.

You’re probably as close to 100% correct as anyone can be while speculating but how hard is it to make a GTA alt?

Seriously if you were the head of EA games and you’re in charge of all the budgets, you don’t have a specific department like some secret ops room where your best team is working on making an open world crime game?

There’s no gameplay there and the storyline seems generic

But the reality is … if GTA 7 takes as long as GTA 6, 6 will be the last GTA without robots and sci-fi world elements unless GTA commits to retro settings

So in a certain way this game may be a glimpse at GTA 7
