I think she tried to keep her integrity as a teacher
Some other student could complain that she wasn’t doing a good job for withholding relevant historical info and images and knowledge on a the subject in a paid course that otherwise would be shown say if it was a class on Christianity for example
People could protest both sides
For example, I took a class on Christianity in college and the teacher was Gay.... I didn’t care. He even showed us “life of Brian” one day and had the class laughing along with it
No protests but it was kinda a stupid thing to do but now I know the movie exists

If she was teaching a class specifically on Islamic Art, showing historical depictions of Mohammed would be fair game. Even then it's only responsible to have a disclaimer to all students that plan to take the course, that potentially upsetting images would be shown.
But if you're just teaching Art History 201, the subject is long and wide enough (going back thousands of years, hundreds of cultures) that to find time to show a depiction of Mohammed... You're just looking for attention. And she got some.
She could have done the following instead:
1. Include links to depictions of Mohammed in supplementary material
2. Just speak on it
3. Gotten tenure first.
But she didn't. Dumb ass.
