Casual stupidity. Stop tryna test other people's faith. I don't fukk with religion but that doesn't mean I'm going to go in front of believers and mock their beliefs. She had to know the way this would play out and still did it.
This is the danger people have with not understanding each other today. They were beheading people in France not long ago for such insolence. It's not about what we think of it. There really isn't a reason to go there just to say they are sensitive. For a long time blasphemy was a big deal in western society as well. No need for the could woulda shyt. She knew she would offend any devout Muslims in an Islamic class and did it b it's not on the students it's on her.
Don't try to rationalize this shyt for the sake of education. It's not purely a history course at all it's a religious course as well. Which will appeal to. Believers. To test their boundaries merely to say that they should be open to exploration is to fail to even understand the topic in the first place. Teaching a class on a religion who you can't respect seems absurd.
This is an Islamic studies course. She went there knowing her lesson would offend their beliefs. Try again.Muslims are too fukking sensitive. They should not be included in anything.
NoYou don’t think it’s ok to just ask and give a generic warning before sensitive/offensive material to the class in general before each lesson?
Singling out Muslims and being extra careful for them alone would be also a problem.
History is full of bad things and stuff people don’t know about until they learn it. Most who know still would rather not talk about or see until it’s right in front of them.
And religion is a big part of that history so in order to teach history I think you gotta ask students to leave their religious beliefs at the door.
Just like during the class on Christianity/Jesus the teacher had to be super careful not to offend in a majority NON Christian audience (I think most college age Americans are atheists) but still covered everything
Students could walk out of the room if they get made or debate after class with the professor on the topic but you can’t actually stop class and dictate the lesson or tell the teacher what he can’t do in a class you pay to attend..... you’re just kinda in for the ride.![]()
