shyt even the great games have shortcomings. shyt splatoon only has, what, 4 multiplayer maps and no voicechat? It's just regular shyt that nintendo refuses to put in their games.

People understood the system quite well:

It's underpowered compared to the other current gen consoles and the last gen consoles
Overpriced due to the gamepad
3rd parties didn't fukk with it
All it has were Nintendo games
Didn't have the features that other systems had, including standard last gen features
Overall marketing sucks

So yeah, people understood what it is, they just want nothing to do with it.:yeshrug:

Hopefully they learned their lesson and will make a decent console that keeps up next time.

They wont:shaq2:

If they try and match ps4/xbone for power at this stage the price point will be too high and by the time it comes out we'll be talking about the ps5 and whatever else.

At the end of the day the absence of third party support kills them. :francis:

Nintendo wont change no matter what happens, they can replace Iwata with the heads of Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft, EA and Activision all combined and nothing will change.

Why?

Because Nintendo HQ is located in Kyoto and Kyoto is conservative as all fukk run by old men (possibly Yakuza affiliated because c'mon Nintendo is 126 years old, you know they have ties) who pull the strings of puppets behind the curtains, these puppets are Iwata and co.

It's possible for Nintendo to change, that can be done but heads gotta roll at Kyoto for that to happen.

But thats mostly due to the underpowered hardware...
Nintendo hasn't had great 3rd party support since like 1998.

They are as stubborn a company as I've ever seen. None of this is surprising, I knew the Wii gimmick would blow up in their face. Only so long you can hide behind ONE game. One game is what pushed the Wii to what it was

Yep and that game was Wii sports.

But yeah hardware too kinda played a part, back in the N64 days while the N64 was more powerful than the PS1, due to Nintendo being arrogant and stubborn they refused to use disc, but instead cartridges.

Sometimes it literally seems like they don't want to make more money. Like.....I dunno

It would kill future pokemon games for the portables. Why buy a toned down version when you know they're going to make a full version on the home consoles?

Problem with Miyamoto saying that shyt is, people did understand the system. Ain't no one trying to buy a ps360 with a shytty library in 2012+. I remember when there were all those gaf leak speculation threads about the Wii U before it came out. For a year people argued that ninty would not release a ps360 level system in 2012... lol

They captured lighting in a bottle with the DS and Wii. And I don't think they understood what made those two systems popular.
Anyone could have told them the gimmicks for the 3DS and Wii U were not worth it.

Nintendo has always been a insular and arrogant company tho. They dropped the ball on cd, dvd, blu-ray, hdd's, online gaming, account system, voice chat, etc....

Hell never even did what the old man wanted Iwata to do, and open a anime studio for nintendo animation. Some Studio Ghibli type Zelda would be piff.

But that's all you need. One or maybe a couple titles that people feel like they cant miss out on.

PS or Xbox drop with limited 3rd party support they'd still sell off the strength of halo, gears, uncharted,GOW.

Nintendo needs to develop some must have IP. Mario can't sell systems anymore
