Why would you punt a year that you're almost done with and if you're in contention for a championship, quit on? NBA players have to play 70 games to get all of their pay. The rest of their salary may come at a prorated amount, but they got theirs already.

Because they will be stuck in a new CBA that won’t be beneficial to them for a certain amount of time. Even if they finish out the season, they are looking at a substantial drop in contracts and salary cap. It will take years to make up the loss revenue and get the cap back stable. The NBA was already mad when they thought that Morey fukked up their bread with his comments. The corona shyt is going to effect it worse.

The gambling money will end up coming in a lot sooner than they expect as states will need a way to make up for revenue shortfalls. Depending on how long the players agree to, they could miss out on that money right away.

Yeah, they will. They will not have the relevance they have today (which isn't big) with two work stoppages between now and after the CBA expires. Juicing the ball (League mandated steroid era 2.0), hasn't resulted in increased attendance.
MLB has double the total revenue of the NHL

MLB will never lose half its money. Not going to happen.

We'll see, but a work stoppage will not end well for MLB especially at a time when tens of millions are out of work. Optics are huge right now.

Professional team owners are the most ruthlessly disciplined group of people you'll find on earth. Pure fukking gangsters.

These mfers are multibillionaires and own assets that are guaranteed to increase in value year after year, decade after decade. They get governments to pay for their fixed expenses up front then use that as leverage to get even better deals from someone else.

NO SHORTS. NO LOSSES.

MLB has completely dropped the ball on this. They should’ve been back and been the center of the sports world while everything else is down.

they are complete idiots.

they literally have 30 stadiums that would be perfect for social distancing. No other sports league outside of Euro soccer can do this and Euro fans would mess it up with their fukkery.

They’ve got spring training complexes that should’ve kept up business as usual with proper safety measures in place.

Zero reason why the baseball season shouldn’t be starting on June 1. People sit in every other seat and you still can get 30,000 people in the facility along with standing room “seats” with the ground taped off for social distancing. shyt is a no brainer because the NBA and NHL are still trying to figure their shyt out so baseball would literally be the only game in town.

now you throw this salary cut shyt in the mix and naturally the players feel some type of way. This didn’t have to happen.

All of these guys banged up with Winter injuries are all better now and the whole country would see this as a way to sorta re-open and give people something to do for 3-4 hours a day. shyt, baseball is a 6 day a week thing and the schedule could’ve easily been adjusted to have longer homestands.

Because their half of the money would be based on ALL the money coming in, including tickets sales, merchandising, etc. With none of that money coming in the whole season, their 'half' is significantly less then just half the salaries on paper now.

This is gonna be a fight for a minute. With this proposal, Im not sure there will be a season.
Yeah. Im not seeing a reason to jump on the athletes side immediately... unless its NFL where you know the players getting fleeced. I dont side with anyone. Everyone makes less in a pandemic

What's :mjpls: about it? Boras looks out for himself. Those are commissions he will not see if a season doesn't happen.

True but by looking out for himself he's still looking out for the players. If the players concede anything then they need to concede as little as possible. Not sacrifice their pockets for themselves and the next generation of players.

There's a middleground that has to be reached here.
