I don't think you're getting it. ESPN values the different areas they can put you in and how "versatile" you can be. I've even seen Malika Andrews on the beat like a journalist asking NBA players questions. Looks like they are trying to make her into a secondary Brian Windhorst. I just named 5 things Malika does for ESPN
You can only name 1 for Molly. That's your answer, thee end
They're trying to make her into the next Robin Roberts as she isn't long for ESPN.

Let’s be respectful - I get the internet makes people lack decorum. But I don’t think coming at someone who clearly understands these subjects brazenly with “I don’t think you’re getting it is productive.” I speak plainly so everyone can follow you and a lot of you take that at face value as if there’s no nuance behind what I’m saying. You’re the one who isn’t getting the point.

You have no idea what ESPN values or what’s being negotiated. Let’s start there. Stop speaking authoritatively - what you said is the equivalent of a dude trying to WebMD his own medical diagnosis.

So let me very clear - doing multiple things does not in and of itself make someone of higher value. Molly has made more money than most people at ESPN who appear on different things her entire career. The majority of people who make big money in the industry only do one thing (think Chuck and co. - Stephen A is literally getting Chuck Money and that dude works two times a week during the NBA season and a bit during college.)

Everything Malika is a part of is an ensemble cast. She’s not the focal point of anything and is not even popular. You have no idea what she even got paid - it is unlikely that it was more than what Molly was offered. Molly was arguing that she is on the premier show and should be paid like anyone else on a premier show would be. In network television, the A team gets paid a lot even if that’s all they do because they bring in the most eyes and revenue. She compared herself to Malika to point out that she received a raise - so why wouldn’t Molly when she’s more visible, is on air more, and is on the bigger show? Malika’s other duties could be brought up but they’re not her primary role - and she’s the closest comparison to use. It’s a negotiating tactic - a smart one.

That’s part of why they wanted to move her off First Take - if you’re not on the premier show - you can’t demand premier money. Moving her to sportscenter and raising her salary would’ve effectively made her the highest paid sportscenter anchor. But it’s not in the realm of what other people who play big roles on morning shows get. (Think Nick Wright and co., think Greeny, etc.) They basically said you’re not a revenue driver but we value you at the company - just not in this role anymore so you can do other things at a more moderate increase - you would be getting paid more than most people in those roles. But it’s effectively a demotion and they leaked it ahead of time so she couldn’t spin it and she got emotional. It’s that simple.

It doesnt matter if Molly is on a bigger show if her role is smaller compared to what Malika does on her shows. You said Malika is on ensemble shows, that's still more than Molly can say. All she is used for is asking questions and keeping time. She doesnt give any input of her own 99% of the time. It's tossing it to SAS/DO/Mad dogg etc.

Malika is a talking head and Molly isnt. Which is why her allegedly comparing herself to Malika is dumb.

You literally wrote half a novel on behalf of Molly Qerim. Hopefully you hire her one day

She's hosted First Take on and off for years now, so it makes sense that it'd go to her. The others either already have a defined gig or would have used it as a stepping stone. For her, it's a promotion from SC.

I also wouldn't use the :mjpls: with her considering her husband is Jordan Cornette

Legitimately asking, is Jordan Cornette confirmed to be a solid breh?

Because we definitely have Sage Steele as transitive proof that this isn't necessarily a guarantee on principle.

Everyone should know race of spouse doesnt mean shyt in regards to a person's :mjpls:

I googled Jordan Cornette and a quote saying "I dont try to look at things through a black and white lens...." any breh who says that deserves a side eye. I dont really care what follows :manny:

All that just to be loud and wrong too. I dont even like Malika for the bullshyt she pulled with Ime and Mazulla but comparing her to Molly is just dumb as hell.

Malika got her own ESPN channel with almost 400k subs.

So yea, the Malika comparison is stupid as hell.

Exactly. It's plenty of folks with spouses of all races that are on that fukk shyt, or at least fukk shyt adjacent.

You aren't giving her GMA gigs if you aren't prepping her for life outside of the company.
They’ve given a lot of talent those looks over the years. They just never stuck (Beadle, Clarissa Thompson). I don’t think she has the talent for it is what I mean.

@EzekelRAGE you’re dumb as hell b. Sometimes I wonder why I actually try to engage with people on the Coli like they’ve ever been anywhere near a corporate board room. My natural niceness just emboldens stupidity. Bro posted Malika having a channel she inherited as evidence. :deadrose: This isn’t Club Shay Shay you clown. This is an example of a bunch of ignorant people agreeing with each others ignorance because someone more informed then them is speaking over their heads. It’s like Trump voters who hate Obama. I’m over here telling you the exact comparison she made in the negotiations you dumbass and why it was what her agents would make and why. Like, how dumb are people? Like do I need to speak at a remedial level and explain contract negotiations like you’re 5? Did I say ESPN had to agree with the comparison or that they couldn’t pushback? Do I need to provide rudimentary talent agreements? Like goodness, sometimes it’s okay to shut the fukk up if you don’t know what you’re talking about. There’s is no such thing as a perfect one to one comparison in most negotiations. That’s not how our legal system even works in discrimination claims. It’s about similarities situated people. You and @UpAndComing are just loud and wrong nikkas. Feels like my clients’ shytty employees I have to deal with every other day. My fault for engaging- you idiots got it.

That wasn't for lack of trying. They just weren't good at having crossover appeal outside of sports.

They're going to try even if she fails at it.

I just don't see her being long at ESPN.

Yeah, I can see her wanting to do something else but I don’t know if she’s the person for GMA but she’ll get the tryout.

She used to be the sports anchor on our local Fox Affiliate (Chicago) prior to working for ESPN. I’ll never forget when the Bears were in need of a RB, she was against signing Kareem Hunt because of that incident in the hotel. I think it was the season after that took place.

I hate Malika Andrews, so I hate defending her
But I'm thinking ESPN values that Malika does other things that adds more value. She actually is on the road constantly covering the NBA, has her own show (even if it's subpar), also does some reporting on NBA news as well, also does one on one interviews with players, etc
Facts, Malika works a lot more for ESPN. Molly only had one role at ESPN and that was on First Take. If she expanded her role and did NFL or NCAA hosting duties, I could see ESPN making more of an effort to keep her. It honestly incredible how fast Malika has risen at ESPN. Much of it had to do with Rachel Nichlos leaving after that tape came about her talking about Maria Taylor.
