So it's not black excellence if it's gay or has women, shoutout to Insecure

Its still black excellence, but it doesn't mean everyone would enjoy it :manny:

I haven't seen it tho, so I don't really know

The Traps of Unified Korea
:patrice:is it actually good tho?

It’s incredible. Visually, just, remarkable. It’s crazy how well this movie was shot. The child and teen actors are great, and Naomi Harris is incredibly good. Movie is powerful from beginning to end, and I bet any of the people complaining about the main character being gay have not only not seen it, but would be blown away to know that his being gay has no bearing on how any of the adults treat him in the movie.

You can have a corny, try-hard story about what it’s like to be “black” like Dope or Dear White People, or a movie like Moonlight that is so genuinely and truthfully black it doesn’t even have to try. It doesn’t try to speak for a people as a whole, or explain black culture to those unfamiliar with it, it just is. It’s just the heartbreaking story of one particular kid from one particular poor neighborhood in Miami.

Chill out, i support good black women films.

But it's always "that agenda" with a lot of you. Why can't it just be a film that happens to have a gay protagonist that doesn't even focus on his sexuality? If you didn't like it, fine, but I can't stand the cry babies that would rather have Birth of a Nation be nominated because of its premise. Be a better movie if that should be the case.
