Him being homosexual wasn't that much of a core issue though. He would have still been bullied because he was quiet, timid, weak, etc. How did they know ol dude was homosexual anyways? And spoiler alert!: Why did they make his friend bisexual? That shyt ain't make no sense. And the main character had only one sexual experience in his life, and it was with his bestfriend when they were teens.

Dude a handsome breh, built like a pro football player and got dough, I'm sure the ladies throwing the p*ssy at him. It was a good movie but some things ain't just make no sense and it felt incomplete than a muhfukka.
That's the point. Movie isn't all about him being gay, it's about finding yourself, and how impossible that can be whilst in poverty.

That kid never learned how to communicate or be around people his entire life. He had positive relationships with three people, and two (remy from HOC and Janelle monae) he barely spoke or opened to, and the other fukked him up rather than stand up for him. Add that to going into Juve and remaking himself when he moved, how was he ever going to have a personal relationship with someone?

And why does his friend not being bi not make any sense? Some people are gay, family. He was just much more well adjusted.

Bro, he didn't find himself at the end of the movie. That's why he was gangbanging, wearing grills, durag, driving a similar car as the older breh. How did he find himself? Please tell me breh. That's why I said the movie felt incomplete.

Maybe it wasn't even about finding himself, more so him emulating one of the few male figures he had in his life.

And as for his friend thing it came out of nowhere. Why would what happened between them in their teens and not before? Just that one and only time? It ain't make no sense to me.

His friend didn't even seem embarrassed about liking men. I've seen it happen in other movies and the bisexual dude usually denies it after it went down. Dude seemed all cool like he did it before.

Yes, he did. Not entirely, he didon't turn his life around or whatever, there's no happily ever after, but after he connects with his friend who almost immediately breaks down the character the he was portraying explaining that it wasn't him (and this coming after finally connecting with his mother), and finishes with him being outwardly honest about his feelings for the first time since he was a child, being embraced by someone he felt he could be the real him around (whoever that may turn out to be). The end of the movie is the first step of his self-discovery, and it's a massive one.

That's because of the liberal gay agenda. They always nominate films where blacks are subservient or gay.

Then smear mud on black masculinity like birth of a nation

Hollywood chose their nikkas wisely....Lee Daniels wasn't given a platform because he's talented

what film with black gays have been nominated???

They forget that straight black men that have played straight black roles like Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman and many more have been putting in work for years and won some of the most credited awards ever but as soon as a black actor that played a gay role is nominated there's an agenda and foul play at hand.

Everyone saying the gay shyt doesn't play and integral part in the movie should then wonder why that was added. The writer probably knew in order to catch the attention of Hollywood something "edgy" needed to be thrown in as a masculine hetrosexual black male going through the struggle isn't what Hollywood or Cacs want to see.

.

so every bisexual/gay guy is supposed to have the same thoughts/actions? there are some gay/bi guys who are completely masculine and comfortable with their sexuality.....just like there are some gay/bi guys married to women because they aren't comfortable with their sexuality.
