You gotta admit Mos Def is far past his prime these days. Andre still drops hot verses when he decides to rhyme

actually I really don't fukk with lupe at all. only album I ever felt was his last one. but his rhyming skills can't be denied. musically, I think his albums are on some bizarre nerdy shyt....takes away from his messages. but his pen game is still one of the best of all time. and when I say it's understandable doesn't mean it's not "try hard".....yea we treat the world like shyt(fukk her and nut on her).....mother earth is "tossin and turnin"....oh I get it....cause the earth turns....how genius. it's a cool verse, but nothing to go crazy over. and definitely nowhere near mos def's best shyt. that's minor league stuff compared to mos at his best.
Delivering a message/painting a picture isn't about how long you can string out your matryoshka doll, it's all about finding the right balance.:manny:

Listen to those who view Andrés work as diminutive because he doesn't have a solo project to judge is asinine :heh:

That's like saying if you were judging R&B singers before Beyoncé left the group/ that you couldn't tell she's a better singer than Ashanti :dahell:

He's in a group his body of work still stands:mindblown:

I'm a fan of both their music

The 12 round analogy lends more to 3k's longevity and consistency. If you're honest with yourself right now you know only one of these two can still spit at the same caliber of a god mc

It's almost a tie

But:whoa:

The problem people have with what you're saying is can 3K sustain his his ability over an album. That's a big question mark fam. We know Mos can.

I voted for 3 stacks but I can't be mad at people who chose Mos. To me it's just that Andre is more of a can't-be-replaced guy than Mos. Mos is the best at that poetic, deep lyrical backpack rapper with a street appeal lane but that lane could arguably be filled with other dudes like Lupe, Black Thought, Monch, or sometimes even Nas or Mega whereas with Andre, he really carved his own niche and just approaches shyt differently. Call it avant-garde, eccentric, left field or whatever but to me I don't see any rapper doing what Andre does.

I don't get how people overlooked the fact that the OP clearly states "not talking catalog". It's a matter of strictly skills not who dropped a solo.

I can see people's perspective. Even though most got maybe one two classics. He's actually completed solo concentrated body of work, and to them it just looks like André has been sparring greatly features guest verses but haven't fought yet:ohhh:

But even if you place their collaborative projects side by side blackstar vs outkast albums :francis:

And mos doesn't have to carry talib :stopitslime:

Some people have NY ears where anything outside of NY gets no respect
I used to be guilty of this. You hear that southern draw and automatically assume the verse or what's spoken is devoid of any intellect:mjlol:

That's why southern artist have had it more difficult.

But he makes it some easy although at times what he does is so complex

It's again why individuals find I should say "some" find mayweather's fights boring

They don't understand what he's doing

But if you talking true literal metaphorical verbal intercourse

The way he goes in that bytch and then comes out applying the same words he used on the way in :scusthov: its just nasty :heh:

He box/ raps unorthodox and as mentioned would not easily be replaced

Even his clones haven't eclipsed him

Your drakes future Kanye Wayne Kendrick

And that's his lyrical and vocal attributes

But it is what it is:manny:

I've already stated that Mos is the superior emcee. The convo shifted a bit if you weren't paying attention & we all got into a discussion
