Becuase in 06 I'd say that Jay's comeback definitely overshadowed Jeezy. Nas outsold Jeezy first week in 06 and that's when Jeezy was promising "them first week numbers" would prove that Hip Hop wasn't dead.

Jay did 600k first week, had Show Me What You Got (hate that damn song) in CONSTANT radio rotation, and had one of the best marketing campaigns that I can remember. Jay was literally EVERYWHERE.

tupac, nas and the fugees had 96 on lock, followed by ghost, busta rhymes, outkast, xzibit, jeru and mobb deep. as far as jay goes, people barely noticed he existed and that's not even hating on jay, reasonable doubt was a good album that deserved more recognition, but it was overlooked in '96.

Yup. When Ain't No Nikka dropped it put him on the map & got major spins that summer. Also didn't hurt it was on the first Nutty Professor soundtrack which that movie was huge back then.
