You guys have no idea. When walt had his thread on college sports i spoke on a bunch of shyt that goes on with college players and loopholes

Public universities have to accept a certain number of "special education" students guess how many of them play sports? Majority of the team was taking remedial lunch and basket weaving 101. Its a lot of dudes with college degrees that cant read or write like adults

The blame wasn't wholly placed on the "corporations" but also on the school system. We can blame the parents but what do you expect out of parents that are also under educated (in most cases) and also victims of the SAME school system. Their children's sports future is basically their lottery ticket.

That's my point

The corporations and schools can't get to them, if their parents don't let 'em

football and basketball

now does other ethnic groups not play these sports also?

:beli:

nfl is 70% black
nba is 80% black

your best athletes (the ones who make it to the pros) are the guys wh have people tuning in to the games and buying tickets. theyre usually black

we talking college sports, do you not watch it and see the numerous players of various ethnic backgrounds that play those sports and generate money for these schools?

but you continue with this only black kids getting exploited crap, all kids of different races are exploited in college

I'm not going to go in on this like I could but you can tell when you listen to them speak. I'm not speaking dialect or southern drawl. Jameis does have that slave accent but listen to him talk, some intelligent shyt occurs in his head. Others, eh, not so much.

jameis was offered a scholarship by stanford that still has strict academic standards hes not stupid.

alot of these football players sadly even with a degree wont amount to anything, best would be is to eat off a booster

The NCAA already told us where they go after graduation, they work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car!

They're not "student-athletes," (for the most part). They're semi-pros that need to be compensated for their skill and labor. Look, nobody gives a fukk about these dudes getting a legitimate education, PARTICULARLY these institutions. I'll give you an example, as some of y'all know I go to FSU, and I bleed garnet and gold. I have for a long ass time -- since childhood. But, I call a spade a spade. Dalvin Cook is a superstar, 5 star recruit at running back and an early entrant into FSU. The spring semester started on the 6th. Guess when he showed up? Today. :stopitslime:. The fukk kinda classes is this dude taking this semester? Everything is full, but that won't matter. Besides that, he's missed a week of class already. They'll put him in some classes like "Keys to Student's Success" and shyt like that, and by the end of the semester he'll have learned nothing.

The schools themselves set the expectation that education isn't important. Why are we surprised when athletes follow suit? The most duplicitous and nefarious thing about all this is that subsequently these same schools harp on them giving athletes a "free" education. :stopitslime:

Dapped and repped, breh... :salute:

But that's mainly the upper levels though (BCS championship/ NCAA tourney-worthy). When you go to Farleigh, St. Francis PA, or lower divisions (D2, D3, NAIA where there's WAAAAAYYYY less money), that kind of stuff is less prevalent. It's still there, but less prevalent.
No one really care about these 'student-athletes...' particularly in black male dominated sports... because if they did, football and Men's basketball wouldn't have the lowest GPA averages at any school, BY FAR.

Being a former athlete at a Day school, we had study hall day that wasn't a Friday, a weekend, or a game day.
Our coaches sat in and watched us work... if we missed for a non-legit reason, THE WHOLE TEAM ran laps til someone threw up.

Then again, our coach's previous job was at Air Force, so :manny:

But in my lifetime, I have met some players that were dumb as a sack of hammers. I was :mindblown: at the fact that most of these guys had little grasp on concepts that my mom taught me at 7... while I was in junior college.

I'm like "how are you even allowed to leave high school not knowing this shyt? :wtf:"

But every now and then, when you meet a smart athlete that's down to death that breaks that 'dumb jock' stereotype, so don't judge the entire group on the individuals you've met so far.
