It's Dark And Hell Is Hot.

There's few times that someone was a phenom like DMX in early '98. I remember it, I totally understand it, and I was glad to see it. He shook shyt up like no other. That being said, he shook shyt up and had a good album to go with it, but not a great album. There's a good half of that album that I rarely revisit, and I might even say I like the 2nd album better.

I agree in that I don't think IDAHIH is a perfect album or as good as many of the classics from the late 80s to mid 90s...but it's far and away better than the 2nd album to me

Id put every single one of those albums on par with illmatic. If they aint better they equal in terms lf enjoyment. And everyone dropped in the same time period.

Especially if i only took the ten best songs off them. Its be a blow out in that case.
